Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in product analytics, fraud/risk analytics, or data analysis roles
- Expert in SQL and proficient in tools like Python or R for data analysis
- Experience with fraud detection strategies, risk scoring, and related metrics
- Experience with data visualisation tools like Tableau or similar
- Clear communicator with a knack for simplifying complex data insights for business stakeholders
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, etc.)
What the job involves
- Remitly is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join the Small and Micro Business team, with a focus on fraud detection, risk analysis, and compliance support
- This is a unique opportunity to work on a new product line from the ground up, where your analytical insights will directly help shape how we prevent fraud and maintain trust at scale
- As a Senior Data Analyst, you will work with product managers, risk teams, data scientists, and engineers to analyze fraud patterns, build dashboards, develop monitoring tools, and inform strategic decisions
- You'll help lay the foundation for how we use data to detect fraud and mitigate risk, ensuring the integrity of our business payments platform as it scales globally
- This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems with data and has a strong business sense
- Our work will directly impact customer experience and business performance
- Become an expert on Remitly's Payments Fraud (Scams, Chargebacks, Promo Abuse) data, experience, policy, and regulatory requirements
- Analyze customer behavior and transactional data to detect patterns indicative of fraud
- Build and maintain dashboards and reporting tools that track fraud trends and key risk metrics and deliver actionable insights
- Develop, test, and deploy fraud rules in collaboration with program, operations and engineering teams to reduce fraudulent activity
- Partner with data scientists and engineers to refine and operationalize fraud detection models
- Collaborate with product, risk, compliance, and engineering teams to influence roadmap and priorities with data-driven recommendations
- Design and run experiments (e.g., A/B tests) to evaluate the effectiveness of fraud controls and mitigation strategies

The emergence of digital banks with low transaction fees cross-country has increased competition in a space where Remitly was dominant for many years. The company must continue to innovate its product to ensure it is the go-to place for these types of payments.
However, Remitly continues to partner with exciting companies and improve their service for loyal customers. The company is setting its sights beyond its core remittance service, such as through the recent introduction of Passbook, an app that allows customers to access digital banking through a partner bank.
