Who you are
- You are an experienced HR / people / talent professional who thrives in the early-stage environment: you understand the requirements of this growth stage, and can prioritise necessary changes and process developments as the company scales
- You have experience making an impact in a similar role in a startup/scaleup environment
- You have a solid background in talent acquisition
- You enjoy devising creative ways to enhance and build a thriving company culture, that people love to work in
- You love switching between strategic and hands-on work, driving HR topics independently
- You bring understanding of legal frameworks in the HR field, especially in Germany
- It would be great if you have experience of developing people strategies and nurturing a thriving culture among global and distributed teams
What the job involves
- Join us as our first dedicated HR specialist, architect our people and talent strategy as the company scales, and shape the team's culture
- Lead all aspects of People & Culture at a growing, early-stage startup
- Act as a key partner to the management and founding team, reporting directly to the CEO
- Drive both strategic initiatives and hands-on execution as a people & talent generalist
- Manage the entire talent acquisition process, collaborating closely with hiring managers to ensure high-quality hires for Kaiko
- Develop and implement the HR strategy, including processes, salary structures, performance appraisal systems, as Kaiko scales
- Oversee daily HR operations and ensuring smooth execution of all HR functions
- Drive initiatives that enrich Kaiko's culture and make Kaiko a great place to work for our diverse global team
Our take
Around 90% of goods are traded over the sea, but the maritime industry has been somewhat left behind by the digital transformation that has swept through land-based logistics and most other industries. However, this situation is starting to change. One company helping to reshape the maritime sector is Flagship Founders, a venture studio focused on supporting startups seeking to disrupt the shipping industry.
Flagship Founders provides significant support in industry expertise and investment to founders with ideas that can move the industry forward, helping them achieve product/market fit and build successful, scalable products. To date it has launched four startups: Kaiko, a shipping fleet management system which has achieved 50% gains in efficient operations, Tilla, a platform for optimizing crew changes, zero44, providing carbon emission reduction software to the shipping industry, and Arinto, an arrival scheduling system for increasing efficiency and reducing pollution in ports.
Flagship Founders recently closed a seed funding round which was led by F. Laeisz, a major shipping, trade and insurance group. It will use this capital to build out its team and to continue to support its portfolio of startups. As the maritime industry moves to adopt digital improvements to its operations to drive efficiency and cut waste, Flagship Founders is in an excellent position to bring the digital revolution to a sector in need of change.
