Role
Who you are
- The right person has a track record of turning briefs into strong content, whatever the objective. Long-form is your core strength. You are also comfortable with short-form and SEO
- You work well with the people across the company and you manage projects with discipline
- You have 10+ years of professional writing experience and a strong portfolio of long-form copy
- You are a storyteller. You are curious about what motivates our audiences, how they behave and what they prefer
- You know how to build differentiation through thought leadership and storytelling grounded in data
- You pay close attention to detail and approach every task like a journalist, looking for the angles and stories that matter
- You understand writing for digital channels: how user experience and channel conventions shape the work, and where it sits within content marketing as a whole
- You start things yourself, keep to deadlines and push projects forward, and you welcome feedback and iteration
- You are fully proficient in English, written and spoken
What the job involves
- Adyen is hiring a senior content writer who is organized, self-driven and good with people. You will work from our Amsterdam office for our global content team, reporting to the Global Content Lead
- This role exists to produce content that serves Adyen’s business and marketing goals while staying true to our brand
- You deliver compelling copy that measurably strengthens our value proposition, our marketing strategy and our brand. You will take on complex projects, where long-form skill, narrative depth and storytelling backed by data set Adyen apart
- Write thought leadership, brand narratives, editorial series and other long-form pieces that strengthen Adyen’s authority and make the brand more distinctive. You also pick up other copy needs as they arise
- Show real command of long-form, short-form and SEO writing, with long-form editorial as your specialism
- Connect every content initiative to commercial goals and the wider content strategy, and show that you understand business, marketing and brand priorities each time you respond to a brief
- Lead content projects from kickoff to delivery. You work with internal and external stakeholders and design partners, pay close attention to details and deadlines, and show others how good project management keeps teams aligned and timelines on track. You see risks coming and adjust the plan without being asked
- Produce and maintain assets by following existing processes, formats, guidelines and templates, so that fewer reviews and rounds of revision are needed
- Gather background information, data, audience insight and newsworthy material, and interview internal and external contacts to feed your content
- Join case study visits and content shoots on location
- Define clear goals for your content, measure its impact and apply what the results tell you, using digital content marketing best practice
- Build and update writing templates and guidelines that work across studios, and find better ways of working as you go
- Mentor writers in other studios so the quality of writing stays high
Application process
- Ensuring a smooth and enjoyable candidate experience is critical for us. We aim to get back to you regarding your application within 5 business days. Our interview process tends to take about 4 weeks to complete, but may fluctuate depending on the role
Our take
Adyen has been one of the most successful businesses in Europe over the last decade. When it went public in 2018 at a valuation of €7 billion, it raised over €1 billion and its share price popped on the first day, resulting in a valuation of €14 billion. And its valuation has continued to climb in the years since.
Adyen competes with large players like PayPal, as well as outsized startups like Stripe, to power payments and provide other infrastructure to conduct digital transactions. Disrupters in the field have been buoyed by a strong rise in eCommerce activity, where some or all of a transaction by a customer is made either online or by mobile.
Adyen has been one of the companies riding the wave by helping interested businesses to choose and then implement online payments - without the usual hoops to step through. Notable partners have included Autocanteen, a touchless self-checkout solution for the hospitality industry, and BILL, a small business-focused fintech platform.
