Who you are
- We need someone who isn’t afraid to take ownership of what they build. You'll own medium-sized projects from design through to production, working independently within your team and delivering quality outcomes
- We are looking for someone who embraces AI as a core part of how they work. We expect you to be a confident AI user who actively finds new ways to leverage tools like Claude Code, Copilot, and Notion AI to move faster and think better
- Clear & pragmatic communicator who builds alignment fast
- Resilient, curious, and hands-on in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Authentic team player with empathy, openness, and ownership
- Comfortable with AI-powered tools to accelerate your work (Copilot, Notion AI, Claude, etc.), and with the willingness to learn more
- A few years of professional engineering experience and the confidence to own features end-to-end in a production system
- It’s a bonus if you are already familiar with technologies like Kotlin, PHP, typescript, and MySQL, but not a hard requirement
- If the mission excites you but your experience isn’t a perfect 1:1 match, apply anyway — we care about potential, not perfection
- You’ll be expected to work with AI-powered tools. Some we use:
- GitHub Copilot / Claude Code
- ChatGPT / Gemini / Claude
- Notion AI (docs, knowledge, meeting notes)
- Analytics & ML: Langfuse, PyTorch, Mastra
- AI-enhanced testing & monitoring (e.g., generative QA, Grafana ML)
- We don’t expect mastery of all, but we expect comfort learning, experimenting, and adopting AI responsibly
- To succeed in this position, your spoken and written English skills need to be proficient. Since Monta is a globally active company, you’ll be communicating often and regularly with our co-workers and partners around the world, making your professional English knowledge essential
What the job involves
- We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our Business Operations team. The team is responsible for the Hub and the back-office tools that operators use to run their charging business on Monta. This is a hands-on individual contributor role where you'll own delivery of meaningful pieces of our operator tooling and grow your expertise in the domain
- Business Operations sits at the center of how operators actually run their business on Monta - team structures, access, sites, and the day-to-day tools that hold it all together. As we onboard more operators across Europe, the platform needs to keep up: more use cases, more scale, more complexity to manage cleanly
- Impact - your work will directly power the Hub and the tools hundreds of charge point operators rely on to run their charging business on Monta
- Solve hard problems - bring clarity and structure to a platform that spans how operators manage their teams, sites, and charging network, where the rules are genuinely complex and the edge cases matter

Our take
Monta is an EV charging company that is building ways to make it easier to charge EVs from wherever you are. In order to do so, the company is working to digitise the EV charging ecosystem via a charging management platform.
Transforming mobility is a leading global effort towards a greener society and European cities are rapidly seeing the uptake of electric vehicles. In spite of this, there is a dearth of EV charging points, and Monta is trying to rectify this issue through its unique all-in-one EV charging platform, which makes charging vehicles simple and seamless, thereby increasing the adoption of a more sustainable method of transport.
Monta has invested its efforts toward opening up new markets, specifically North America, whilst consolidating its market position in Scandinavia, the UK, and Germany, and most recently, it expanded into Canada. Alongside this, the company recently partnered with Octopus Fleet to support the expansion of its fleet and energy services. This partnership strengthens Monta's role in large-scale fleet electrification and puts the company in a strong position as demand for reliable EV charging continues to grow.
