Role
Who you are
- Proven experience in a leadership role within engineering, with a track record of mentoring and developing talent
- Strong commercial experience in the full software development lifecycle working with at least two of the following languages and frameworks (React, Redux, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3 Java 17+, Spring Boot and relational databases)
- Breadth of technical understanding across software development and architecture, service operations, DevOps, and cloud
- Experience of agile development practices, DevOps pipelines, continuous integration / deployment, test automation and the E2E software development lifecycle
- Strong communication skills, dynamic and adaptable, with the ability to facilitate efficient and effective decision-making. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with a diverse range of collaborators
- Experience of managing Third Party Suppliers in the context of providing software solutions, including the configuration and testing of such products

- As Lead Software Engineer you'll be tasked with a variety of responsibilities that are crucial to our success. This is a leadership level role and will blend both technical expertise with a great passion for coaching and developing people, including advocating team wellbeing
- Lead and mentor a multi-skilled team to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions to support business goals
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle to design, build and deliver maintainable, testable, observable and resilient software systems
- Collaborate with feature teams and third parties to identify and implement creative solutions that align with business objectives
- Use agile tools, methodologies and data to monitor progress, addressing any issues promptly to ensure timely delivery. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful implementations to live
- Develop and document processes to improve engineering efficiency and service quality
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, fostering an environment of learning and growth within the team
- Management of Third Party Suppliers to ensure solutions are performant, secure and resilient, and meet bank objectives and client needs
- Monitor and analyse service performance metrics to continually improve our offerings
- Accept 24*7 accountability and ownership to support availability, currency and performance
- Ensure that all engineering activities align with industry standards and regulations
