Role
Who you are
- This role is ideal for a self-motivated, high-energy individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and a strategic focus
- You should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, influencing leaders at all levels, and delivering results in a dynamic, performance-driven culture
- MBA or advanced degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field preferred, with 8–10+ years of progressive HR/OD experience, including at least 5+ years operating at a senior strategic HRBP level or equivalent
- Background supporting technology teams at a mid stage software/technology company with fewer than 1,000 employees. Experience in insurance, financial or related industries is a plus
- Proven track record in leader enablement, organizational development, and change management for fast‑growing or transformation‑focused organizations
- Strong experience in process design, operational improvement, employee relations and cross‑functional problem‑solving in complex or highly regulated environments
- Experience enabling leadership effectiveness at scale and across all levels
- Comfort with and curiosity to experiment and apply AI in HR, organizational and leadership contexts
- Demonstrated ability to influence leaders at all levels, challenge assumptions, and deliver results
- Deep knowledge of federal and state employment laws and ability to proactively mitigate people-related risks
- Proven success and comfort in navigating ambiguity, competing priorities, and multi-phase transformation initiatives
- Exceptional communication skills—able to adapt style, distill complex ideas, and inspire action
What the job involves
- We're looking for a Principal HR Business Partner to join our team
- In this role, you'll act as a strategic partner to functional and executive leaders, aligning people systems with company goals and values
- You will lead the execution of integrated People Plans and drive initiatives in leader enablement, organizational development, and change management
- This is a chance to use your expertise to solve complex business challenges, from process improvement to exploring AI-driven solutions for HR
- You'll act as a thought partner to functional and executive leaders, ensuring alignment with company strategy, culture, and values
- Partner cross‑functionally to ensure leadership and people systems are consistent, scalable, and aligned enterprise‑wide
- Lead the execution of integrated People Plans for each supported function, ensuring talent, structure, and capability needs are met for both current and future growth
- Design and deliver cascaded communications, storytelling frameworks, and manager enablement tools for functional adoption
- Execute on leadership operating systems and models; run Director‑level capability building
- Develop and deploy change management playbooks and communications for supported function and cross‑functional transformations
- Facilitate process improvement sprints to drive operational efficiency, scalability, and cross‑team collaboration
- Establish an HR AI Test Lab to explore and pilot AI‑driven solutions for people processes and leadership enablement
- Oversee and continuously improve performance management processes—training leaders to deliver feedback and drive results
- Partner with members of the PaC team to design and implement scalable, data‑driven people solutions
- Utilize data to identify, inform and validate success of people actions and programs
- Assess supported function development needs, make evidence‑based recommendations, and implement tailored solutions
- Collaborate on compensation strategy for supported functions, ensuring competitiveness and equity in partnership with Total Rewards
- Analyze advanced people analytics and AI insights to inform and influence leaders to take meaningful action and track program effectiveness
- Anticipate and mitigate people‑related risks, ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws across supported functions
- Success in This Role Means You Will:
- Implement repeatable and scalable PaC program enhancements, and associated change management playbooks that increase speed to adoption for strategic initiatives
- Embed AI‑enabled and automated workflows into leadership and PaC practices, unlocking time, insights, and personalization
- Drive measurable improvements in leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, and operational efficiency
- Act as a trusted, future‑focused strategic partner to the business
Our take
Openly has responded to a perceived gap in the market: while consumers are increasingly buying home insurance through independent agents, the products those agents can offer have not kept up with what’s possible, resulting in wasted time, wasted money, and outdated risk underwriting.
Openly's homeowner insurance platform sells exclusively through independent agencies. The platform watches and updates more than 19,000 vendor profiles daily across 19 states and 91 different industries, detecting changes to key business information, privacy documentation, terms of service agreements and public records. This increases transparency of the risk between buyers and suppliers, which sets Openly apart from its competitors in the insurtech market.
It has grown in-force premium by more than 500% year over year and has already achieved double-digit new sales market share in the majority of its states. The company is taking huge steps and has even partnered with Mastercard to integrate Mastercard's RiskRecon cyber risk data into its platform so that organizations can better understand their risk profile. It now has plans to expand its home insurance product to more states and agencies and to enhance its technology and insurance product.
