Who you are
- We are seeking professionals who want to operate on the front lines of an exciting and disruptive mission
- This position requires U.S. citizenship due to government contract requirements. Highly desired candidates have existing security clearance
- Architect-level experience designing, implementing, and operating cloud-based infrastructure
- Deep expertise and experience with containerization
- In-depth experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and cloud service providers such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), specifically design, management, and updating IaC with tools such as Pulumi in Golang and crossplane
- Ability to develop, optimize, and debug code
- Ability to design, build, and implement microservices in Golang or rust
- Ability to implement, modify, and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to understand technical concepts
- Strong commitment to documenting applications and process you create
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Expertise with DevSecOps principles, components, and cloud computing providers and services
- Familiarity with Gitlab, Google Workspaces, Slack
- Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- Availability to travel up to 25 percent of the time. Travel is for on-site configuration and deployments of the platform to locations typically located on the East Coast
Desirable
- 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Certified one of AWS/GCP/Azure Solutions Architect
- Experience in systems administration, systems or software engineering, and/ or computer science
- DoD 8570 compliance

What the job involves
- Second Front Systems (2F) is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Platform Engineer to join our growing team
- In this role, you'll spearhead our technical efforts to bring our DevSecOps platform (Game Warden) onto multi-cloud fabrics
- Second Front Systems is working to accelerate the transition and adoption of emerging technology into the national security ecosystem, including the Department of Defense
- As a Senior Platform Engineer for Second Front Systems, we expect you to architect, improve, implement, and operate our cloud native platform for deploying software as a service offerings to the national security ecosystem
- You will be central to the research, experimentation, and development needed to deliver our Platform platform (Game Warden) onto classified fabrics
- As part of a cross functional team, you'll build, test, validate, and operate Game Warden in accordance with the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community security and compliance standards. We pride ourselves on working together as a team and delivering results
- You’ll be expected to work cross functionally on both well defined topics and on areas you identify as needing research and development
- You'll work closely with government interlocutors to understand, provision, and secure cloud-based resources in support of research and development efforts to get Game Warden deployed on classified networks
- You'll gain a level of DoD 8570 compliance. We work in a fast-paced agile environment to deliver exceptional software solutions that empower the people who use our products
- You’ll be expected to establish benchmarks, outline key activities, and prioritize efforts across multiple initiatives and programs
- You'll be responsible for developing and documenting new solutions, working independently, and contributing to a culture of diversity, innovation, and excellence
Our take
It goes without saying that national security is of extremely high importance and billions of relevant currencies are fuelled into achieving the highest standards each year. Second Front Systems fast-tracks government access to disruptive, commercially-proven, SaaS applications for national security missions.
Founded in 2014 by two former U.S. Marines, they used experience of outdated technology and systems to power the company's national security mission. Since its founding, Second Front has developed a DevSecOps platform and several AWS GovCloud solutions.
2023-24 funding rounds mean the company can now look to expand into the UK market and position its DevSecOps platform Game Warden as a software bridge between the two nations. The current operations and software used by the two countries are not matched and this ironing out could be transformational for the progress of joint security. The company is described as a market leader and it’s clear it is making huge progress in sectors of great importance.
