Role
Who you are
- Experience preparing federal income tax provisions, monthly journal entries for tax accruals, and reconciling workpapers with the general ledger
- Proficient in preparing U.S. sales tax returns; experience with U.S. & Canada income tax returns and VAT tax filings is a plus
- Conceptual understanding of tax principles (ASC 740)
- Ability to monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments and translate them to a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders
- A bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or taxation; CPA candidate or CPA strongly preferred
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a public accounting firm or in an internal corporate tax department, with a focus on sales or income tax; at least 1 year of experience at a tech company
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and written
What the job involves
- Working on the Finance Team, you'll be responsible for our taxes — from tax accounting and sales tax compliance across our international subscription offerings, to income tax compliance in the US and Canada
- Recent projects include:
- Implementing a new indirect tax platform to support a new product launch
- Expanding the company's income tax compliance efforts in new states and countries
- Enhancing tax provision calculations and reports
- As a Tax Accountant (US), you'll be vital in building tax compliance processes to support a brand new product offering, preparing monthly and annual tax provision entries, and developing your skillset cross-functionally within the Finance team
- As DuckDuckGo continues to grow, you’ll also play a role in setting up and supporting our global infrastructure
- You’ll be required to attend meetings on camera via video conferencing
- Expect to travel at least two times a year: once for our all-hands meetup and again for a team retreat (each around 4-5 days). While extenuating circumstances may impact attendance, everyone is strongly encouraged to attend
- While we offer a flexible work arrangement with no core hours, expect an average full-time commitment of 40 hours per week
- A successful candidate must pass a background check as a condition of joining the team
