What the job involves
- MongoDB is seeking a UI Engineer to join the Design Systems Team
- You will be joining a team of cross-functional designers and engineers focused on helping the company scale our product ecosystem, and the fast-evolving and growing teams behind them
- We create libraries and guidelines that engineers and designers across MongoDB use to build consistent, accessible, and delightful experiences
- We’re seeking an engineer to help take the Design Systems engineering team to the next level, strengthening and enhancing the frontend experience for both our valued customers and the talented engineers at MongoDB
- Push our design system to the forefront of modern best practices
- Build React components and developer-friendly APIs that will be used by nearly every frontend engineer within MongoDB
- Participate in peer code reviews, offering mentorship and guidance to teammates
- Write, maintain, test, and document new and existing components and tools
- Help craft the user experience of MongoDB customers through component development
- Integrate with our existing systems and develop solutions that improve the front-end ecosystem at MongoDB from within
- Own and direct change that enables your fellow engineers to be successful with their front-end focused work
- Engage cross-functionally with teams to ensure the seamless integration of the design system across all products, maximizing its impact
- Work with some of the best and brightest engineers in the industry who thrive on collaboration, technical excellence, and mutual respect

MongoDB is an open-source, cross-platform, document-oriented database system. It stores data as JSON-like documents and is written in C++, Go, JavaScript and Python.
Essentially, the company develops tools and blueprints to help businesses and organisations modernise their legacy applications, migrating them to the MongoDB database and the MongoDB Atlas cloud database. With this initiative, MongoDB is particularly taking aim at Oracle customers with ageing applications running on the Oracle relational database system.
Since its release, MongoDB has become one of the most popularly used NoSQL database systems due to its ease of use and efficiency.
