Who you are
- Python programming (strong foundation required)
- Experience with creating animations (Python or web-technologies)
- Undergraduate or graduate students in Computer Science, Robotics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or related fields

- Basic UI/UX development (preferably using React.js, Flask, or Streamlit for interface design)
- Simulation frameworks (e.g., SimPy, Mesa, Unity ML-Agents, or custom-built tools)
- Operations Research / Linear Programming (OR-Tools, MILP solvers)
- Game Engine / 3D Visualization (Unity, Unreal Engine for simulation visualization)

What the job involves
- As a Simulation Engineering Intern at Robust.AI, you will join a small fast-paced team working to sell, deploy, support, and expand the next generation of warehouse robotic systems
- This is a high-visibility role that will provide an opportunity to work with key business units such as commercial, software, and product development
- You will possess a set of skills that are focused on building and refining multi-agent simulation environments to improve the speed and accuracy of our solutions team in the presales process
- This role will report to the Director of Solutions, but collaborate heavily with the VP of Sales as well as the VP of Software
- Create and refine multi-agent (robot and human) simulations to explore potential workflows, customer sites and configurations
- Create beautiful visualizations of simulations used to sell robots
Our take
Increasing complexity in supply chains and demand has meant manufacturing and logistics are incorporating more robotics and automation. These systems, however, can be cumbersome, costly, and brittle, meaning it’s difficult for them to adapt to new demand. Robust’s solution is a platform enabling rapid, no-code setup of robotic transport systems in warehouses to help transport materials and tools.
The idea is that these robots work with, not instead of, human workforces - and it’s just the first slate of applications for Robust’s deeper tech. The aim is to develop an all-purpose cognitive engine that will produce robots that can make decisions in open-ended environments.
The potential applications for a common-sense cognitive platform are sweeping, even if Robust’s beginnings are fairly modest. It’s planning to build out its own datasets and pursue strategic alliances with companies across different verticals - it’s already in conversation with iRobot for application of its AI layer in homes, for example.
With the heavy-hitting founding team of robotics veterans at the helm, Robust is making painstaking and careful progress in what is growing to be a multi-billion dollar global robotics industry. It will be interesting to see how its tech progresses.
