• FT Live is looking for a Junior Multimedia Designer to join our design team and help create engaging motion, video and visual content for our global events
• FT Live is a team of around 200 events experts delivering approximately 250 events each year around the world. Around 80 of these events require video assets, and the main focus of this role will be the hands-on production of moving image used to market and deliver them
• You’ll join a supportive and highly collaborative team of nine designers, all focused exclusively on FT events while staying closely connected with the FT’s wider design community. Working alongside the Senior Multimedia Designer, you’ll also support videography and photography at events, either creating content directly or helping to manage external suppliers
• Alongside multimedia work, you’ll have opportunities to develop your broader graphic design skills and, over time, potentially take responsibility for the design of an event from end to end. As this is a junior role, you’ll receive training and support as you develop your technical, creative and project management skills
• The role is full time at 35 hours per week, normally 9.30am–5.30pm on weekdays with one hour for lunch. There may also be limited opportunities to travel to support FT Live events in Europe, Asia and the Americas
• Create video and animation assets for FT Live events, including content designed for LED screens in a variety of sizes and aspect ratios
• Support the Senior Multimedia Designer with event videography and photography, including documenting events, capturing b-roll footage and interviewing attendees
• With guidance from colleagues in the design team, liaise with audio-visual and production teams responsible for room layouts, lighting, filming and live streaming of on-stage discussions
• Work with marketing colleagues to develop effective design briefs, clarify requirements and set realistic expectations around timelines, budgets and delivery
• Storyboard video concepts before production begins
• Produce pre- and post-event video content for social media, event screens and FT Live websites
• Create supporting non-video assets including static promotional graphics, HTML-animated digital advertisements, print advertisements and large-scale repro
• Create and maintain event asset templates and work with the wider design team to establish consistent standards for motion assets
• Help manage relationships with external creative and production suppliers
• Keep up to date with developments in design, video and motion, including ways AI and automation tools can improve efficiency
• Share knowledge and examples of good video design with colleagues, helping other designers build their confidence in video and motion work
• As your experience develops, take on opportunities to manage the design requirements of individual events from brief through to delivery, with appropriate support
