Who you are
- You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have experience developing and executing social media strategies for B2B SaaS brands, have experience with social listening and competitive tracking, and experience with reputation management
- 5+ years professional experience, with as many years of related experience (directly in social media management])
- Proficiency in Sprout Social or similar platform
- Comfortable with tools including Muck Rack, Google Analytics
- Experience developing and executing social media strategies for B2B companies (preferably SaaS) for LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and X
- Data-driven mindset with a focus on performance metrics
- Experience with social listening and competitive tracking
- Content creation and copywriting
- Communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter/ability to work autonomously
- Experience with reputation and crisis management
- Experience with running and optimizing paid social media advertising
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a creative, organized and metrics-driven Social Media Manager to join our team and guide social media strategy and content, track and protect Muck Rack’s brand reputation on social media and drive engagement across social media platforms
- As our first Social Media Manager, your mission will be to develop and execute social media strategies that align with our business goals, monitor and track related conversations on social media, drive engagement and following on social media and report on results
- You should be excited about being Muck Rack’s first Social Media Manager and influencing and shaping strategy on how we reach new audiences across social media
- Develop and execute social media strategy aligned with company goals and campaigns
- Develop creative and engaging copy for campaigns
- Collaborate with design, communications and marketing team on strategy, measurement and creative execution
- Engage with our community of public relations and communications professionals, journalists and other media-adjacent audience members on social platforms
- Monitor social media mentions, escalate issues and respond in a timely manner
- Analyze and report on results
- Manage social media calendar, publish and schedule posts
- How success will be measured in this role:
- Increased engagement and followings across social channels
- Successfully planned for and executed social media strategies for key campaigns
- Increase response rate to customer service inquiries

Muck Rack was founded in 2009 as a platform for businesses to connect with journalists. As of 2022, tens of thousands of journalists have profiles on Muck Rack that are available for companies such as Google, Pfizer, and Duolingo to browse and employ writers from.
The nature of journalism has evolved since Muck Rack’s founding, with social media and digital outlets taking away market share from printed publications. As the landscape changes, Muck Rack has expanded its services to include a Public Relations Management platform.
It’s moves like this, as well as their shift to a “distributed” business (hybrid or remote), that have sparked renewed investor confidence in Muck Rack. Though the company has been bootstrapped since its founding, Muck Rack received its first outside funding of $180 million in 2022, underscoring the importance investors place on their platform.
With this substantial funding, the future is bright for Muck Rack, as it continues to roll out updates and new features to its platform. Digital content can go viral in a matter of hours, and the creators are not always journalists, meaning Muck Rack must remain agile and quick to respond.
