Who you are
- Experience with search or other data-intensive problem spaces
- Proficiency with Ruby and additional object-oriented languages, ML engineering experience a plus

What the job involves
- As a Software Engineer on the Marketplace Dynamics engineering team, you’ll be building systems that use analytics, engineering, and data science to match users with Catering Partners and help them make the best ordering decisions
- This team is responsible for data models and populating them with a variety of human and machine sources to efficiently and effectively match the demand and supply sides of the business
- Join a team that is focused on delighting our customers, executing the organization's mission, and propelling our business forward. Build products utilizing Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and other technologies
- Own and maintain systems related to search, recommendations, guided ordering, and other areas enabling the ecommerce marketplace
- Respond to customer and business requests by evolving our existing products and identifying areas that would benefit from new initiatives
- Partner with data technology to turn data models into user-facing features
- Decompose problems, design technical solutions, and work with other talented engineers to implement, test, and evaluate your team’s work
- Communicate with your team to ensure mission clarity and provide technical direction
- Improve our user experience by increasing the capability and efficiency of our systems and products; based on research, data, and metrics
- Share ideas for improving the product, technology, and/or process
- Operate with scale and speed embracing new challenges and contributing to the development lifecycle
- Have fun building meaningful software with awesome people
Our take
ezCater is an online marketplace app that provides catering options for businesses, working with food providers who enter their menus onto the app for customers to browse. ezCater sends each store its orders and handles customer service while the food providers fulfil the orders.
ezCater profits by charging a small commission on all orders that restaurants fulfil. The company counts JLL, RingCentral and the San Francisco 49ers among its customers. It previously fuelled expansion through acquisitions such as online catering platform GoCater in 2018 and MonkeySoft Solutions in 2019.
ezCater has enjoyed strong growth so far, in part by focusing on meal deliveries to a growing hybrid workforce as an employee benefit. It has been eyeing an IPO for some time, though these plans are yet to come to fruition. In the meantime, it has continued to develop its technology and unveiled a new supplier diversity program to uplift small businesses owned by underrepresented groups.
