Who you are
- The ideal candidate has a strong background in business development, with expertise in the offshore and onshore wind industries, and some familiarity with the oil & gas and maritime sectors
- A proven ability to build and maintain global client relationships, particularly through solution and relationship selling, as well as experience with structuring license and management agreements, is essential
- This role is perfect for someone self-driven, eager to collaborate closely with clients, and passionate about growing the business

- A Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required
- A proven track record of 6-10 years in sales and business development, preferably within the offshore and onshore wind industry, maritime, or oil & gas sectors
- Experience in structuring and negotiating license and management agreements
- Strong understanding of industry trends, regulations, and key players within relevant sectors
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at various levels
- Ability to work independently, managing your own portfolio while consistently meeting or exceeding targets
- Willingness to travel extensively, including international trips as required

- Client Engagement: Identify, engage, and build long-term relationships with potential and existing clients within the oil & gas, maritime, and wind industries on a global scale
- You will help ensure the safety and preparedness of the people working in these vital industries by minimizing risks and making sure they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead
- Consultative Selling: Collaborate with clients to understand their unique challenges and business goals, offering tailored consultancy solutions that address their specific needs

- Partnership Development: Develop, negotiate, and manage license and management agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial partnerships that drive both client and organizational success
- Market Analysis & Strategy: Stay updated on industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to inform strategy and identify opportunities for growth and innovation
- Independent Portfolio Management: Operate as an independent contributor, managing your client portfolio, driving results, and ensuring client satisfaction and retention
- Proposal & Bid Management: Lead or contribute to the preparation and submission of proposals, bids, and RFIs/RFPs, ensuring alignment with client needs and organizational capabilities
- Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with marketing, operations, and technical teams to ensure the seamless delivery of services and alignment with client expectations
- Performance Reporting: Regularly track and report key performance metrics (e.g., sales targets, client satisfaction) and adjust strategies to meet or exceed targets
- Travel: Be willing to travel nationally and internationally, spending 40-60 days per year meeting with clients, attending industry events, and fostering relationships
Our take
Maersk is a Copenhagen-based integrated container logistics company. Originally known for its fleet of enormous ships, the company is now active in ocean and inland freight transformation and related services, including supply chain management and port operation.
Until 2022, it was the largest shipping line by container capacity, before being unseated by Mediterranean Shipping Company. This can be accounted to the recent, strategic decision to change course, shifting its focus away from shipping and toward associated but more profitable services, including air freight, trucking, and selling logistics software. This places Maersk in an exciting position for potential growth. It is now reinventing itself as a one-stop shop for every step of the supply chain.
Another key aspect of this transformation is to become net-zero by 2040. The company has a more immediate goal to ensure 30% of ocean journeys will be powered using sustainable fuels. Maersk’s decarbonisation efforts not only ensure a greener future, but a more competitive one for global trade.
