Role
Who you are
- A proven track record with 3-6 years of experience in analytics or data-focused strategy roles
- Using your technical skills (SQL, Python) to get into the details of our device values, leveraging internal and external datasets to deliver actionable insight into critical business functions
- The ability to also step back from the detail of the data and think strategically while delivering as part of a larger team
- Collaborating in a fast-paced environment across the business with diverse skill sets and personality types. You have great stakeholder management skills and love using your analytical skills to champion data-driven decision-making and educate others
- Taking responsibility and ownership for the work in the entire area - if you’re not getting it done, no one else is
- Experience with a fast-paced environment, ideally startup/scaleup or Fintech experience
What the job involves
- We’re looking for an ambitious Strategy and Analytics Manager to join us here at Raylo
- As the first Strategy and Analytics team member solely focussed on Device Strategy, you’ll drive our device trading P&L (£100M in 2025, projected to be £1B by 2029) and the forecasting of future device values. Using data-driven insights, you’ll analyse how we can better understand future device value, optimise device return strategies and drive the P&L generated through trading devices
- Our Device Strategy is core to Raylo’s mission of driving sustainable, circular consumption of retail electronics and you’ll play a key role in accomplishing this mission.
- This is a truly unique opportunity for an aspiring data and strategy analytics leader to influence the fundamental operations in a category defining business
- You’ll collaborate closely with the leadership team and co-founders, C-Suite, and senior business leaders. Your ideas and leadership will play a critical role in shaping the future of a key strategic advantage for Raylo
- Reporting to the VP Strategy and Analytics, you’ll work closely with other internal partners to define how we build a globally leading device strategy
- Your technical and analytical skills will mean that you’ll champion data-informed decisions that drive sustainable growth for Raylo, and in time, build a high-performing team that aligns with our mission opportunities
- You’ll be energised by collaborating with internal and external partners within operations, finance and engineering to deliver meaningful change based on the insights that your data drives
- You’ll interact heavily with co-founders and external investors to define performance goals for our device strategy and monitor performance against these
- Your work will directly drive the sustainable, circular consumption of consumer electronics, which sits at the heart of Raylo’s mission

- We conduct background checks (DBS and AML) on all successful candidates who are offered a position at Raylo during the onboarding process

Our take
As a society, a disposable phone culture has developed which is both expensive and harmful to the environment, but Raylo is offering a more sustainable alternative. Through its platform, consumers can lease new and refurbished devices like phones and laptops, paying a monthly fee for the length of the contract.
Raylo sets itself apart through low monthly charges. This is significant as, despite consumers’ increasing reliance on electronic devices, research from Ofcom indicated many consumers struggle with the affordability of mobile phones. The circularity which Raylo's premise is built on is also essential, to reduce the overproduction of devices and the resulting waste as the world shifts towards more sustainable practices.
In 2022, Raylo cemented its status as an actor for good with its recognition as a B-Corporation. The company has also netted considerable funds, that will enable it to expand operations, with plans to grow its direct-to-consumer channel as well as checkout integration for merchants.
