Who you are
- This role requires experience in model building, deployment, and software engineering best practices to ensure scalable and efficient ML systems

- It is ideal for someone with industry experience who is eager to build robust, high-performing models and contribute to cutting-edge advancements in machine learning applications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
- 3+ years experience in industry is required
- Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and model deployment
- Proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch
- Experience in software engineering best practices, including version control and testing
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on complex ML engineering challenges
- Experience optimizing model performance and inference speed, preferred
- Experience with Linux and working in remote environments, preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and deployment tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP). would be a strong bonus
What the job involves
- Clarius Mobile Health is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to contribute to a special project focused on expanding access to ultrasound technology while continuing to advance our next-generation innovations
- Over the next 12 months, the Machine Learning Engineer will focus on the development, training, and deployment of machine learning models in both research and production settings
- If we meet our project milestones, there’s a strong possibility of this role being extended or turning into a permanent position
- Develop, train, and deploy machine learning models for both research and production
- Optimize model performance and scalability for deployment
- Design and maintain ML pipelines for efficient data processing and training
- Automate model retraining, evaluation, and monitoring in production
- Collaborate with researchers and software engineers to transfer ML research into practical applications
- Address and minimize ML technical debt, ensuring maintainable and efficient code

Ultrasound technology is often expensive, difficult to use and prone to error. Clarius is setting out to solve these problems by democratizing access to high-quality ultrasound tools.
Clarius's scanners are light, handheld, wireless and connect to Android and iOS devices, making them far more convenient than bulky, traditional scanners. This has allowed Clarius to maintain a distinct market position. Since its launch, the company's devices have carried out over two million scans in over 50 countries. What's more, a recent influx of funding will allow them to scale these numbers.
Off the back of $15.7 million of funding in 2022, Clarius released a new AI-powered, HD model in 2023. This will enable it to build on its current progress and to expand its customer base, which will be a vital part of its continued success.
