Who you are
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or 1+ years of experience in a relevant technical operations or platform role
- Possess a solid understanding of core SRE concepts and cloud computing principles
- Demonstrate skill in at least one modern programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, Bash) for automation and tooling development
- Experience working within Windows, Linux, or Unix environments
- Proven ability to approach complex, ambiguous production issues with a systematic, data-driven methodology
What the job involves
- As a Site Reliability Engineer I at Prosper, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of our technology platform
- This entry-level position is designed to bridge the gap between application development and infrastructure, ensuring our systems are robust, observable, and easy to maintain
- You will also contribute to optimizing deployment workflows, observability practices, and overall operational readiness
- Develop and enhance software applications and configuration to better align with operational needs. Collaborate closely with the development team to achieve the company’s overarching goals
- Deploy, maintain, and optimize our comprehensive observability stack, including metrics, logs, and traces. Design and refine alerting strategies to transition from reactive monitoring to proactive
- Manage and provision cloud infrastructure using modern Infrastructure as Code tools
- Leverage innovative GenAI tools to boost SRE efficiency. This involves developing and maintaining systems that utilize AI for in-depth data analysis, automated incident diagnostics, and improved deployment reliability checks
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure production reliability

Prosper is a peer-to-peer lending platform, that connects investors with borrowers directly. When it launched in 2005 it was the first of its kind and paved the way for the now crowded peer-to-peer lending market, which includes competitors like Peerform, Upstart, Funding Circle and LendingClub.
The company provides an attractive option by cutting out the middleman and making applications faster, meaning that socially and financially rewarding investments can be made. Prosper is one of the largest and most recognized in this industry, having facilitated billions in loans to over two million borrowers.
In more recent years, Prosper has forged ties with banks to allow it to launch its home equity credit line, indicating a new direction for the company. It continues to develop its offering and remains a force in the market, with no reason it won't continue to succeed.
