Who you are
- The ideal candidate will have meaningful experience in copywriting within a fast-paced ecommerce environment and will collaborate across teams and functions to create compelling content that supports our marketing efforts
- This role requires someone with a strong writing background who can partner closely with business and marketing partners to create high-quality written content
- Proven experience in copywriting, digital marketing, or a similar creative role
- Experience with UX copywriting and content strategy
- Strong writing skills with proficiency in content creation tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Google Docs)
- Experience in developing copywriting strategies and associatedvariations in the context of digital marketing testing and personalization
- Ability to translate an understanding of the target audience (personas) into appropriate copywriting approaches while maintaining brand guidelines
- Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work across marketing, product, and UX teams in a fast-paced test-and-lean environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in content creation tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Google Docs)
- Familiarity with Figma
- Find creative opportunities to enhance user experience through compelling copy
- Ability to incorporate SEO based insights to inform use of keywords and terminology in their content
What the job involves
- We are seeking a creative and talented Copywriter to join our growing company.
- Create engaging and persuasive copy for marketing assets, email, site, social media, and other digital channels
- Collaborate with Product Design (UX) to craft clear, user-centric website copy that aligns with UX best practices, enhances usability, and maintains a consistent brand voice
- Work closely with Product, Design, and Research teams to translate user insights into compelling content that guides and informs users
- Continuously test, refine, and optimize UX copy based on data, user feedback, and A/B testing to improve engagement and conversion
- Collaborate with UX and Marketing to translate brand guidelines into content guidelines for the website experience
- Develop and execute content strategy across all digital touchpoints (ads, emails, web) that balances brand vision with optimized user experience
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, advancements and best practices in copywriting and content marketing
Our take
Dollar sales of meat are on the rise, with a growing consumer preference in the US for sustainably sourced, fairly bought meat. Subscription box purchases across DTC businesses are proving a runaway success, too. So it’s perhaps unsurprising that ButcherBox, a subscription meat company combining all these upwards trends, has been having a strong few years.
Given that ButcherBox hit upon a smart market niche, it is no surprise that competing startups are entering the space - and existing butchers are expanding to take a piece too. FarmFoods, for example, is a highly recommended rival, and Omaha Steaks saw substantial spikes in interest recently. That said, ButcherBox has continued to conduct a savvy marketing campaign that sees it win out on name recognition, and has allowed the company to bootstrap itself to $600M in revenue.
Recently, the company expanded into the pet food market, capitalizing on its large base of pet-owning customers, a move that holds significant potential as a promising new venture. Additionally, the company made its first acquisition in Truffle Shuffle, a vitual cook-along platform. This acqusition is aimed at boosting cosnumer confidence across the US, particularly within the ButcherBox community. The company is going from success to success and it will be an exciting one to watch in the coming years.
