Who you are
- Education or work experience in an analytical discipline, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in an analytics role with exposure to business/finance stakeholders
- High aptitude and enthusiasm for complex business problems, utilizing modeling and analysis, through tools such as Excel/GSuite
- Experience with data visualization technologies, e.g., Tableau, Looker, Redash
- Proactive and autonomous problem-solver, able to work independently maintaining attention to detail. Able to manage ambiguity, resource dependencies and timelines to optimal outcomes
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to distill technical or complex matters into clear and concise explanations to senior leaders and business stakeholders
- When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required. This includes non-office days for hybrid employees
What the job involves
- The Revenue Operations team at Gusto is a full-stack team responsible for data, analytics, and operational excellence in pursuit of scaling our revenue growth
- The Revenue Analytics team is one functional area, responsible for defining and owning the metrics for scaling our Sales teams and forecasting our performance against company plan
- Gusto is looking for a Revenue Analytics Lead to optimize our analytics, strategy, and insight generation for our Expansion route to market
- Gusto is highly invested in acquiring customers through its B2B capabilities and optimizing its sales motions to ensure the optimal customer experience
- In this role, your primary stakeholders will range from Revenue Operations to Sales Leadership and frontline sales
- The Analyst will utilize data to drive actionable insights that enhance sales productivity, customer experience, and Gusto’s overall acquisition targets
- This role will report to the Head of Expansion analytics, and partner closely with the Sales Teams, Revenue Operations, Data Science, and Product teams
- Establish relationships with stakeholders to determine business needs, scoping and delivering solutions through data products
- Build and maintain sales forecasts, along with establishing KPIs to measure business health and efficiency
- Utilize data to drive actionable insights that enhance the productivity of Gusto’s sales teams, including visibility into quota setting and attainment, incrementality of sales touchpoints, and channel penetration
- Deliver against a long-term roadmap for strategic success in Gusto’s Direct acquisition efforts
- Serve as key owner of insights and thought partner to sales leaders across the organization
Our take
For many small businesses, vital administrative tasks such as payroll, taxes, and benefits are manual tasks that take time and energy which many SMB owners don’t have. The three co-founders of Gusto – all coming from small business backgrounds – collaborated on a Fintech company that would handle employee payments, benefits administration, and compliance support specifically for small businesses.
The company may have started slowly, as the founders focused on nailing each individual aspect of Gusto’s operations, but has now skyrocketed to unicorn status with more than 400,000 customers and a multi-billion dollar valuation. And in 2021, Gusto began acquiring other companies to strengthen its offering and its position in a competitive market, including two other fintech startups, Ardius and Symmetry.
Through its continued acquisitions and fundraising efforts, the company has carved out a strong position for itself in the space. Although Gusto has found itself impacted by the macroeconomic situation, through the significant effect it has had on its clientele, the company still appears positive for the future after raising funds in 2023 that has seen it reach key profitability benchmarks. It continues to expand its platform, most recently partnering with Parafin to launch a payroll line of credit for small businesses. With a growing suite of services and a clear focus on supporting small businesses through changing economic conditions, Gusto looks set to sustain its momentum and further strengthen its position in the HR and payroll technology market.
