Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or a similar closing role
- Experience selling to founders, startups, or SMB operators (fintech strongly preferred)
- Comfortable operating independently
- Proven ability to generate pipeline through outbound efforts
- Experience using AI tools (e.g., for prospecting, research, personalization) and a curiosity to push this further
- Analytical mindset with experience testing and iterating on messaging or targeting
- Strong communicator who can simplify financial concepts
- Highly motivated, resilient, and excited by building something new within an established company
What the job involves
- We’re expanding into a more upmarket segment ($1M–$10M revenue businesses) and hiring an Account Executive to help build this motion from the ground up. This is a highly autonomous, experimental role focused on outbound prospecting, founder engagement, and shaping how Bluevine sells into more complex businesses
- This is not a traditional AE role. You’ll operate like a mini–GM: identifying target segments, testing messaging, leveraging AI tools for prospecting, and helping define the playbook as we go upmarket
- Own the full sales cycle from cold outreach to close for net-new accounts
- Prospect into $1M–$10M SMBs using a mix of creative outbound, AI tools, and data-driven targeting
- Engage directly with founders, operators, finance leaders, and business owners to understand their banking and cash flow needs
- Develop and run A/B tests on messaging, targeting, and outreach strategies
- Position Bluevine’s banking and financial products as a core part of a company’s financial stack
- Build and manage your own pipeline, with a focus on quality and velocity
- Collaborate with marketing, product, and growth teams to refine ICP and messaging
- Capture learnings and help define the playbook for this new segment
- Consistently hit and exceed revenue targets while navigating ambiguity

Founded in 2013, Bluevine offers a suite of banking services for small and medium businesses (SMBs). It began as a small business lender, and has since expanded into a small business banking service in late 2020.
Having already loaned billions of dollars with tens of thousands of active customers, Bluevine aims to be the largest bank in the United States for small businesses. While there are over 4,000 banks in the US which are theoretically rivals in this ambition, few of them target the SME market or provide a comprehensive range of financial services to meet their needs.
Bluevine's recent partnerships with Wave and Stripe show a company steadily rounding out its promise to be a true financial hub for small businesses. By pulling banking, accounting, and payments into one streamlines experiences, it's helping owners stay organized and get paid faster without juggling multiple tools.
