- 1+ years of experience
- B.S. in Accounting with working knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS
- Public accounting experience
- CPA designation
- Microsoft Excel skills (Index Match, sumifs, pivot tables, etc.)

- The Crunchyroll Accounting Team is a global organization of over 50 professionals working together to support all of our departments and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company policy and regulatory bodies
- Our accountants, analysts, and managers balance the bottom line with several budget priorities and revenue streams
- These passionate financial professionals keep their eyes on our numbers to report, plan, and advise—to act as true partners to the business and keep our amazing growth on track
- In your role at Crunchyroll as the Content Accounting Analyst, you will be responsible for accurate record keeping of our growing number and value of content assets and related liabilities under the applicable IFRS standards and Crunchyroll/Sony accounting policies
- Reporting to our Content Accounting Manager, you will be preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and reports for financial closes and as needed for analyses in the business
- You will be a part of the team responsible for the financial integrity of our content commitments, assets (capitalization), liabilities (payments), and expenses (amortization) as they pertain to Content Accounting related accounts
- The Content Accounting Analyst will liaise with the accounts payable, deal management, and business affairs teams to ensure the accuracy of records that are maintained in our financial ledgers (NetSuite)
- Assisting in the monthly and quarterly close journal entries accounting for all content assets and liabilities acquired in the period
- Assisting in the preparation of flux and financial statement analyses
- Inputting records and associated metadata into our accounting reports
- Consolidating reports from various stakeholders for analysis, proactively flagging items requiring further investigation
- Participating in internal projects to help drive successful implementation

In recent decades, anime - encompassing Japanese, Korean, and Chinese animation 0 has transitioned from a niche interest to a formidable industry, boasting a global market worth approximately $30B. Despite this growth, distribution has historically posed challenges, with series and films often reaching overseas audiences through disparate channels, if at all. Crunchyroll emerged to address this issue by consolidating the largest collection of anime into a single streaming service.
Sony's acquisition of Crunchyroll in 2021 for $1.75B expanded the platform's reach, integrating Sony's extensive animation library into its offerings. this move also positioned Crunchyroll for heightened competition against streaming giant Netflix, known for its substantial investments in anime production and acquisition. Currently, Crunchyroll maintains an unrivaled library of anime content, boasting over 44,000 episodes that have attracted over 0M paying subscribers.
While Crunchyroll initially offered a free, ad-supported tier to its vast community, it appears poised to phase out this option, transitioning to a subscription-based model for all new series. Despite this shift, the platform has implemented a global reduction in fees to stimulate subscription uptake. The success of this strategy remains to be seen, but past experiences with companies like Hulu suggest that it may drive subscription growth and mitigate piracy
