Role
Who you are
- This position will have to be a strong communicator, have an analytical approach and strong technical skills and be comfortable delivering results in ambiguity
- Experience with statistical modelling background preferred
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in data analytics or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and can translate complex data into actionable insights
- Proficient in SQL and Python for data analysis and data wrangling
- Good working knowledge of Airflow and GitHub
- Experience with Snowflake or any other relational database
- Experience with design and development of ETL processes
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Superset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate sophisticated data concepts to non-technical partners
- Proficient in using JIRA and adept at orchestrating analytical projects
- Strong multitasking abilities coupled with an agile approach
- Experience in understanding and translating ambiguous and sophisticated business problems into data solutions and communicating findings to the leadership
- High energy and contagious passion; willing to take on tough projects
What the job involves
- Reporting to the Manager, Business Intelligence, this position will play a crucial role in developing, maintaining, and optimizing our data infrastructure to support business decisions across OpenTable
- The role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business problems and develop solutions through data analysis, create and manage data dashboards and visualizations, and evaluate new data sources and tools to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the data analytics team
- The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer level position is expected to have a strong understanding of the OpenTable Systems and its impact on the data architecture
- Gather and analyze business requirements to design data models and build data pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)
- Translate business problems into data questions, find solutions to solve those questions with resourcefulness while ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency
- Create and manage data dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide insight into key business metrics
- See opportunities for process improvement and automation to streamline data workflows
- Evaluate new data sources and tools to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the data analytics team
- Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and security in accordance with company policies and industry standards
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and standard methodologies in data analytics, and find opportunities for improvement in data processes and methodologies

Today, the platform is used by tens of thousands of restaurants around the world and seats over 1 billion diners per year. The company was acquired by Booking Holdings – the world's largest travel company – for $2.6 billion in 2014, and remains a subsidiary of the group to this day.
OpenTable is the dominant player in the restaurant reservation software category, with an impressive 45% market share, but does face increasing competition from platforms like Resy, Tock, TableAgent, and many more. Nonetheless, this market leader has garnered an impressive reputation, and there is nothing to say it won't hold on to the dominance it has earned into the future.
