Who you are
- 8+ years of direct line management experience of hybrid technical and customer-facing teams and proven experience hiring, mentoring, and coaching top talent
- Strong understanding of web development and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Working experience with APIs and a very good understanding of programming language(s), preferably with the ability to read and troubleshoot code
- Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies, understand complex systems (APIs, databases, SDKs, etc.), and a strong desire to continuously improve technical acumen
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable leading technical discussions and building rapport with VP+ level engineering leaders and product managers internally and externally
- Ability to establish and maintain strong, long-term technical relationships with partners at VP+ level
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage technical stakeholders effectively, influence internal roadmaps, and make decisions by collaborating with the right people
- A growth mindset with a bias toward action and strategic thinking
- Possess a strong sense of initiative and ownership, demonstrating a culture fit with Adyen

- Adyen is seeking a Manager for the Partner Solutions Engineering team in North America
- This role requires a leader with a strong technical background and a proven ability to guide and develop a high-performing team
- You will be instrumental in ensuring the success of Adyen's largest, most complex, and fastest-growing partnerships by fostering strong technical relationships, influencing product development, and driving strategic initiatives
- As the leader of North America’s Partner Engineering team, you will lead a team of Partner Solutions Engineers who are subject matter experts in Adyen’s product offerings down to the API level
- Your goal will be to empower your team to ensure partners architect and implement solutions that deliver the best of Adyen, driving mutual success and innovation
- This position requires a blend of leadership, technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong stakeholder management skills to influence both partner implementations and Adyen's internal product development
- This role is critical in ensuring Adyen's platform is scalably supportable by our partners and that partner feedback effectively shapes our product evolution
- The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical leadership foundation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build lasting, influential relationships internally and with partners
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of Partner Solutions Engineers, fostering their growth and ensuring their ability to successfully execute complex system integration projects
- Oversee your team's efforts in acting as long-term, trusted technical contacts for partners' engineering and product teams, guiding them on Adyen's platform capabilities and integration best practices
- Ensure your team provides ongoing support for technical inquiries, hands-on assistance during the implementation process, and leads troubleshooting efforts to ensure the timely delivery of solutions
- Drive strategic architectural recommendations to ensure partners optimally integrate Adyen's solutions, maximizing value for their end-customers
- Collaborate with internal Product and Engineering stakeholders, advocating for partner needs and influencing Adyen’s roadmap to enhance scalability and supportability for the Adyen product offering
- Implement new or driving existing multi-quarter initiatives such as creating new roles, migrating tooling, or formalizing processes
- Balance team needs with the needs of Adyen, ensuring clear communication internally and externally

Adyen competes with large players like PayPal, as well as outsized startups like Stripe, to power payments and provide other infrastructure to conduct digital transactions. Disrupters in the field have been buoyed by a strong rise in eCommerce activity, where some or all of a transaction by a customer is made either online or by mobile.
Adyen has been one of the companies riding the wave by helping to reduce the friction between a company choosing to take payments online, and actually being able to do it. That can take multiple steps and agreements across numerous countries — Adyen’s pitch is that it essentially handles all of it in the backend as a service for its users. Notable partners have included Autocanteen, a touchless self-checkout solution for the hospitality industry, and BILL, a small business-focused fintech platform.
