Who you are

- You don’t need to know everything–but you should have a combination of the following fundamentals:
- 1-3 years of experience working as DevOps/SRE, software developer, or similar role, or proven commensurate hands-on experience
- Basic understanding of Linux commands, file systems, processes
- Familiarity with Git and simple version controlled workflows
- Proven exposure to Cloud concepts and building infrastructure with Code (IaC) (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Bash scripting skills (Bash or Python)
- Curiosity about CI/CD pipelines, automation, and systems reliability
- Fast learners who can pick up new technologies with guidance
- Collaborative communicators who enjoy working directly with developers and code pairing to reach solutions
- Curious and adaptable engineers–you’re comfortable with not knowing everything yet and excited to grow
What the job involves
- Stellar Health is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our growing DevSecOps team. This role will report to the Senior Director, Information Security & DevOps and collaborate daily with our Senior DevOps Engineers and Engineering teams
- We are actively building a modern DevOps culture that works side-by-side with Engineering, strengthens relationships across teams, and accelerates how we deliver high-quality software
- Our team mission is to unify development and operations through collaboration, automation, and shared ownership–so teams can build, ship and operate software with confidence
- Our DevSecOps team is responsible for the tooling, infrastructure, and operational foundation that enables engineering to build, deploy, and operate products safely and efficiently. We partner closely with development teams to ensure our systems are scalable, secure, compliant, and easy to work with
- We manage application deployments and cloud infrastructure on AWS—including our ETL pipelines, queueing systems, and service environments—ensuring everything runs in a HIPAA-compliant, resilient way
- We operate critical internal services like OpenSearch (Redis), Elasticsearch, and Postgres, working with engineering to scale, upgrade, and improve them as our product evolves
- We own logging, monitoring, and alerting through Datadog and CloudWatch and help drive a reliable, well-coordinated On-Call process that keeps our systems healthy
- We manage access and roles across our engineering ecosystem with AWS, Databases, Datadog, GitHub, and more—balancing security with developer productivity
- We improve the developer experience with better tooling, faster testing environments (Terraform), and a smoother, safer release process using Github Actions so teams can deploy the application (Python, Django) and roll back quickly and confidently
- By 3 months you will…
- As a DevOps Engineer, you will support our Engineering teams by helping maintain and improve the systems, pipelines, and tooling that power our platform. You’ll work closely with more senior DevOps and Platform Engineers, learning best practices while taking on real responsibility as you grow
- Work with Engineering teams to troubleshoot environment issues, deployments, and basic infrastructure issues
- Help maintain our Cloud infrastructure, observability platforms, and internal tooling
- Follow established runbooks and processes for routine operations, incident response, and maintenance tasks
- Participate in improving documentation and internal processes
- By 6 months you will…
- Assist in managing and supporting CI/CD pipelines, ensuring reliable, predictable builds and deployments
- Learn and contribute to automation efforts using scripts, templates, and infrastructure-as-code
- Participate in improving documentation, onboarding materials, and operational playbooks
- Collaborate with Developers and Senior DevOps Engineers to support delivery workflows and release processes
- Participate in initial triage for incident response on-call rotation
Our take
A problem in healthcare is little thought is given to the doctors and staff who coordinate all of the daily patient workflow, such as historical claims, pharmacy requests, lab work, testing and billing. Stellar Health aims to drastically reduce these 'chores' through a cloud-based platform on which primary care providers can offer value-based care through real-time information updates about patients.
The point-of-care workflow platform also strives to close the incentive gap between payors and care providers by helping practitioners earn more revenue for keeping patients healthy, rather than simply charging for procedures and treatments. While Stellar Health faces stiff competition from major players such as Siemens Healthcare and AthenaHealth, it has already made great ground in the market with over 1.1M patients across 37 states.
The company has secured significant investment from Primary Venture Partners and Point 72. This funding and its growing revenue are being put towards further scaling its operations and accelerating its product development. Operating in a rapidly growing industry which is expected to be worth just over $4 billion by 2025, Stellar Health is in a good position for future growth and success.
