Role
Who you are
- You are a motivated, curious, and thoughtful person who has experience navigating complex business relationships, always finding a way to align incentives
- If you will break down walls to solve a problem, think things through from a fundamentals perspective, and are motivated by increasing maximum impact, we'd love to hear from you!
- 5+ years of experience in business development or partnerships at a high-growth startup where your work had an outsized impact on success
- History of closing multiple complex deals with (a) clear success metrics and (b) a well-defined approach to negotiation
- History of closing product partnership deals, especially in fintech
- Have a natural bias for action when solving problems
- Experience communicating with both internal and external (partners, customers, legal, product, etc.) stakeholders
- Experience managing contracts and working with legal teams
- Project management expertise
- Experience building the software infrastructure for partnership teams to scale - such as Salesforce, partner portals, ecosystem websites, etc
What the job involves
- As a critical software for banks and credit unions, we have forged partnerships with banking platforms like Jack Henry and MANTL in order to make it easier for our customers to implement Pinwheel into their technology stack
- We’re looking for someone who will continue to develop the strategy around this partner ecosystem and negotiate the next tranche of banking platform deals
- Strike and negotiate deals on the demand side of our partnerships business, primarily banking platforms but also bespoke deals that help enable a Pinwheel sale
- Develop an understanding and perspective around this partner ecosystem
- Create a strategy around how to maximize coverage across banking platforms
- Help establish success metrics and implement the strategy to meet those KPIs
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across this entire partner ecosystem
- Understand our product and platform to be an advisor to partners, helping them see the value of a partnership with Pinwheel
Our take
Pinwheel builds an API that helps Neobanks access and modify their customers' payroll services. It's primarily focused on enabling easy direct-deposit switches in order to promote a fairer financial system for all.
Pinwheel is laser-focused on perfecting UX and product integration in this area, which has won the company coverage of over 70% of paid Americans, and nearly half of all Neobank direct-deposit switches. This secure market position will help it comfortably expand its client services into other API offerings like income verification.
As the US begins to competitively adopt the Open Banking methods already popular in the EU, Pinwheel has made some strategic partnerships, including Lumin Digital and Bankjoy. These collaborations are driving increased account activation and deposit growth for financial institutions, positioning Pinwheel as a key player in Open Banking methods.
