- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience working hands-on in a product-oriented software engineering role, in live production code
- Strong background in building scalable and low latency systems

- Udacity is seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team responsible for developing and maintaining the core applications and services that drive our user experience
- You will work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable solutions that enhance the learning journey for our students
- Additionally, you will have the opportunity to explore and integrate emerging technologies, including generative AI, to create more personalized and adaptive learning experiences
- As a Backend Engineer, your work will directly impact the quality and efficiency of this environment
- By ensuring the backend is robust, reliable, and scalable, you will play a crucial role in enabling thousands of students worldwide to achieve their educational goals
- Develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design solutions
- Optimize and enhance existing systems to improve performance and reliability
- Implement and enforce best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment
- Explore opportunities to leverage generative AI to improve backend processes or enhance learning outcomes
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
