Alongside countless other industries, travel and leisure are swiftly moving digital, with an array of providers dealing in flights, hotels, and experiences entirely online. One such provider is lastminute.com, launched in 1998, that supplies a marketplace for booking all types of trips from luxury holidays to theatre breaks.
Lastminute.com is among the global leaders in online travel. The company was built on a speciality of delivering last-minute holiday deals to consumers. Although it now operates much like other providers, it still hosts both late-booking offers and flash sales. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, lastminute uses Dynamic Packaging technology to allow customers to build personal holiday packages. On its website and app for searching and booking, it provides a range of other services, including payment plans, insurance, and flexible cancellation.
Following a leadership change in 2023, Lastminute had a pretty successful 2024. With a partnership with payment network Zilch, customers can earn rewards on their travel bookings, as well as being able to spread the cost of their trips. Alongside this, it also signed a three-year contract with Ryanair to offer the airline's flights to customers. In 2026, it restructured and streamlined its business and workforce to integrate AI into its processes, keeping pace with the demands of a highly competitive market.
