Who you are
- We are seeking a self-starter who is well-versed across all social media platforms and has agency or in-house experience overseeing social media strategy at a large brand, agency, or publisher, preferably with experience working in the female landscape and with editorial oversight
- Experience running social media for a global brand, media company, agency, or publishing entity
- Experience growing audiences and developing growth tactics for global brands
- The position requires a candidate with significant experience with talent-led brands and directing social campaigns to support experiential, commerce, and IP launches
- Experience maintaining and growing social audiences across multiple platforms
- Self-starter and creative thinker with astute attention to detail, you are proactive and able to work on tight deadlines
- Well-versed in current and emerging social platforms, their products, and trends
- Creative thinker capable of conceptualizing and presenting big ideas and new formats
- An eye for visual design and ability to capture and curate best-in-class social content
- Strong writing and editorial skills
- Passionate about pop culture, STEM, mentorship, DIY, activism and Gen Z culture, in general
- A lover of storytelling with a passion for centering and advancing female narratives
- Experience using marketing tools like Google business, Canva, CapCut, Premiere, Sprinklr, Sprout Social, Later
- Experience leading and managing direct reports
What the job involves
- Hello Sunshine is seeking a Director, Social Media to work in a hands-on-role to develop and execute the strategy for Sunnie, the new Gen Z digital community and lifestyle brand
- This position will lead the strategic planning, development, ongoing execution and management of social media activities for your brands
- This role is perfect for a strategic thinker who has experience authoring strategy, conceptualizing creative and using qualitative and quantitative insights to guide their work
- A big ideas person, you are able and eager to brainstorm collectively as well as individually, to keep social content fresh, exciting, and creative
- You’re also known as a strong leader who values clear communication and can thoughtfully guide and delegate while prioritizing business goals and employee growth
- Develop the social media strategy, social media campaigns and tactical plans from beginning to implementation, in order to support your brands’ businesses and social objectives
- Author and oversee social media content creation, planning, and execution, ensuring alignment with broader business, editorial, and audience goals
- Ensure all content is aligned with the brand voice and ladders up to the strategy; route necessary approvals and department briefs
- Collaborate and work cross-functionally across the org to assist with larger tentpoles, events and company-wide initiatives
- Define and develop comprehensive performance goals to optimize social media efforts daily, while leveraging learnings and adapting
- Analyze campaign results and determine audience behavior and engagement to ensure that insights are integrated into current and future strategies
- Present strategies, analysis, and key learnings regularly to senior leadership and various stakeholders
- Maintain awareness and understanding of emerging social media platforms and best-in-class tactics, as well as look for opportunities to innovate
- Identify industry trends, relevant news, and other opportunities to increase your brands’ share of voice in the space
- Foster and participate in our overall Hello Sunshine values and vision
- Lead, manage, and mentor your team. Be open with communication, provide growth paths, and share the larger business vision

Gender inequality over the last century has led to men having an unfair advantage in representation through film, television, books, and day-to-day life. Many women have channeled this inequality into their creative work, and it is important that these stories are heard.
Hello Sunshine provides a feminist online media platform, shining a light on film, television, podcasts, and other media formats created by women. The company also runs the female authorship Reese's Book Club, in addition to a newsletter and an online clothing store. Whilst the broadness of content formats Hello Sunshine promotes may present itself as a challenge to the company, it has unified its versatility with its exclusive focus on female authorship and creativity.
In 2021, the company was sold for over $900M to a media company backed by Blackstone. Since then, Reese Witherspoon and Sarah Harden have continued to serve on the board and oversee day-to-day operations. The company is focused on changing and transforming the industry, promoting creators who have been structurally sidelined in the past.
