Who you are
- The candidate must demonstrate the ability to think strategically, understand digital advertising, be process oriented and provide creative solutions
- 7+ years digital advertising experience preferably publisher side in a Pricing, Planning, Account Management or Yield function
- BS/BA or equivalent degree
- Experienced in Excel or Google Sheets (pivot tables, v-lookups) with ability to pull and manipulate data from various sources
- OMS & CRM experience (specifically in Boostr) helpful, but not necessary
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with all levels of employees
- Exemplary communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and process oriented mindset
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work toward long-term goals while delivering short-term wins
What the job involves
- Morning Brew is looking for an Associate Director, Revenue Strategy to join their Revenue Strategy team
- This role will be responsible for leading the revenue strategy team’s objectives across pricing & packaging, inventory & yield and systems & processes
- Oversee team responsible for evaluating media plans to maximize revenue and sell through, ensure margin goals are maintained, and provide approvals on discounting requests
- Lead the maintenance and tracking of inventory across product offering to help guide discounting rules, identify open opportunities and re-evaluate packaging as needed
- Consult on creation & evolution of sponsorship packages, custom opportunities and strategic campaigns
- Maintain rate card with current product offerings, pricing and metrics for all sponsorable media including newsletters, branded content, podcasts, and video
- Create incentives based on current inventory, provide creative solutions to sales requests and oversee pricing & inventory process for shifts, cancellations & makegoods
- Help oversee revenue systems including Order Management System (OMS), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Inventory Management System (IMS)
- Oversee reporting requests and provide insights based on revenue and inventory data
- Keep an open dialogue with Sales to understand and react to market feedback as well as ad product performance and provide sales leadership with real time data & areas of revenue opportunity
- Directly manage team’s Manager to support Morning Brew’s goals and revenue strategy

The pivot away from news outlets towards alternative content production sites like Substack, and the consumer pursuit of more personal brand engagement have all made newsletters a lucrative business proposition. Buoyed up by this trend is Morning Brew, a daily business summary newsletter.
Recently, Morning Brew’s subscriber count has been rising increasingly fast, topping 4 million at the time of writing. The founders put this down to its 2020 acquisition by media behemoth Insider, following which the headcount more than quadrupled, and new channels like a podcast, YouTube, and an education product have been added to the Morning Brew output.
The company is now looking to expand to cover news across more industry verticals, and it has the security, engagement, and means to do so with confidence. In 2023, it acquired the short-form business news video platform Our Future to expand Morning Brew product offerings.
