Who you are
- We’re looking for a highly motivated Strategic Finance Associate to join our Finance team
- If you enjoy solving complex financial challenges that do not have well-defined solutions in a high-growth environment, this is the role for you
- 3+ years of relevant experience in Finance, with emphasis on financial modeling, investment banking, corporate finance, or private equity
- Professional designation preferred (e.g., CPA, CFA)
- A self-starter who owns their work, commits themselves to greatness everyday, and proactively seeks to improve the status quo
- Ability to multitask and adapt to a dynamic business
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior level stakeholders
- Ability to make recommendations with the big picture in mind, while executing analytics and reporting with a high degree of detail and accuracy
- Database (SQL), VBA, or other programming knowledge is highly desirable
What the job involves
- This role will be based remotely anywhere in Canada
- Reporting to the Director of Strategic Finance, you will be a part of the financial heartbeat of KOHO
- The Strategic Finance Associate will be instrumental in supporting strategic projects and capital raise initiatives to shape KOHO’s future
- You will own, develop and enhance KOHO’s financial models
- You will support KOHO’s annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, working with teams across the company to shape the roadmap to ensure KOHO is meeting its financial goals
- You will support the Head of Banking in all analytics and materials preparation related to KOHO’s banking license application and ICAAP
- You will support the Director of Strategic Finance, CFO, and CEO in all aspects of equity and debt capital raising, corporate valuation, and investor relations
- You will support special projects, including investment analysis, business partnership evaluations, key contracts, and long-term financial planning

Apart from typical savings and budgeting common with money-management apps, KOHO customers enjoy a suite of financial services that help to build better credit, spending habits and insurance. As part of this, its product appeals especially to the majority of the paycheck-to-paycheck demographic.
KOHO's impressive growth and suite of products also appeal to investors who have backed it with one of the highest levels of funding in the Canadian fintech sector. However, this hasn't completely insulated it from the turbulence in the global economy, which led to KOHO restructuring in early 2023. With 2024 debt funding now secured, it is now focused on growth, aiming to further extend its lead in the Canadian market and achieve a Schedule 1 bank licence.
