Role
Who you are
- 3+ years in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, Implementation Engineer, Forward-Deployed Engineer or similar, ideally at a SaaS or API-driven company. Preferably, experience working with fintech companies in the past
- Strong technical proficiency with REST APIs, integration design, and developer workflows
- Excellent communication skills. You are able to lead technical discussions with engineering teams and explain complex topics clearly to business stakeholders
- Builder mindset. You enjoy creating demos, writing documentation, and solving problems end to end
- Experience being in a highly collaborative and adaptable fast-paced startup environment
- Bonus: Experience working with Accounting, Payments, or Commerce systems in the past
- Must be based in NYC and able to work a hybrid role at our Flatiron, Manhattan office
- This role will be a mix of Pre-Sales and Post-Sales. Being flexible and understanding the differences of working with prospects vs customers is key
What the job involves
- We are hiring a Solutions Architect to join our growing Solutions team to help customers unlock the full potential of Rutter’s platform
- This is a highly collaborative, customer-facing role that blends technical depth, product expertise, and strategic thinking
- You’ll work directly with prospects and customers across the full lifecycle, from early solution design and demos to implementation, onboarding, and post-launch success
- As one of the early members of our Solutions team, you’ll play a key role in guiding our customers to deliver scalable integrations and power the next generation of fintech products
- Lead customer implementations
- Lead discovery, solution design, and technical implementation for customer integrations across accounting, commerce, and banking platforms
- Partner with sales and product teams
- Support the pre-sales process by leading technical conversations, designing tailored solutions, and delivering demos and proofs-of-concept that showcase Rutter’s APIs
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers
- Guide customers on best practices for API usage, data mapping, and integration architecture to ensure scalable, reliable implementations
- Influence product and roadmap
- Collaborate with engineering and product to identify product gaps, propose enhancements, and shape new capabilities based on customer needs
- Build enablement resources
- Develop sample apps, implementation guides, internal documentation, and demo flows that accelerate prospect/customer success and internal efficiency
Our take
Rutter is on a mission to enable new commerce experiences. The company offers a universal API for reading and writing data across different commerce platforms. In doing so, it accelerates the development of new commerce and financial services by removing the complexities of dealing with different eCommerce storefronts, payment processors, and accounting systems.
As an example, if a company wanted to serve merchants and SMBS across Shopify, Amazon, and BigCommerce, they would have to build integrations for each platform one at a time. Rutter’s API removes the need to do so, saving valuable engineering hours and maintenance costs.
In 2022, the company received funding to accelerate its progress in becoming the infrastructure for the world’s commerce applications, investing in scaling out its engineering and go-to-market teams in preparation for expansion. With this in mind, it can be expected the company will be seeking growth soon, and it will be interesting how it sets about these expansion efforts in the coming years.
