Who you are
- Currently in penultimate year of university, on track for a 2:1 or higher degree completion date of Spring 2028
- Preferred degrees include Business, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, Statistics, and related fields. Candidates with relevant coursework, project experience, or demonstrated interest in investment management, financial markets, analytics, real estate, or similar areas are encouraged to apply
- Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to gather, evaluate, and synthesize information from credible sources
- Demonstrated curiosity and learning agility, including a willingness to learn and responsibly use AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot to support research, analysis, communication, collaboration, and productivity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, transaction-focused team environment
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain attention to detail
- Curiosity, adaptability, sound judgment, and a growth mindset, with an interest in how investment teams use data, technology, and collaboration to deliver results
What the job involves
- Barings is seeking candidates for summer internship opportunities across public and private markets in credit, real assets, and capital solutions. This 9-week programme provides hands-on experience and exposure to the financial industry. Interns will work on real business priorities, develop foundational investment skills, and learn how technology and AI-enabled tools are being responsibly used to support research, analysis, communication, and productivity. High-performing interns may be considered for the Analyst Programme upon graduation
- Opportunities are available across a variety of investment teams, including, Client Portfolio Management, Emerging Markets, Global Private Finance, High Yield, Infrastructure Debt, Portfolio Finance, Portfolio, Solutions & Analytics and Real Estate
- Support underwriting activities for debt or equity opportunities through:
- Market research
- Financial analysis and modelling
- Risk assessment and valuation
- Investment memo preparation
- Participate in portfolio monitoring, analysis, and valuation activities
- Learn and apply approved technology and AI-enabled tools to support research, analysis, workflow efficiency, and communication while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and sound judgment
- Assist with special projects, presentations, and other team initiatives

With a history dating back more than 260 years, Investment Management Group Barings was originally Britain’s oldest merchant bank and set up an asset management division in the 1950s. By the mid-90s, its original banking division collapsed due to scandals concerning its executives and its investment management department took center stage. Through a series of acquisitions, Baring Asset Management became Barings in 2016, alongside the now-merged Cornerstone Real Estate Advisors, Wood Creek, and Babson Capital Management.
With a portfolio worth more than $347 billion, Barings has come full circle over its two-and-a-half-century life. During the 2010s, its acquisitions and growth saw it evolve into a global leader, with subsidiaries in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. With many arms to its company, Barings can weather setbacks as a whole, whether that be the collapse of Barings-backed internet provider GigaMonster or restructuring the ailing cinema chain Vue.
