Who you are
- The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in paid social, has worked across the performance marketing ecosystem, and thrives in dynamic environments
- You're a strong operator, creative problem solver, and people-first leader who can elevate both strategy and team impact
- A Bachelor's/Master’s in Marketing, Business, Statistics, Economics, or a related field preferred
- 6 - 8 years of experience managing, scaling, and evolving paid social programs
- Proven success leading high-performing teams and developing talent
- Deep expertise in Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, and emerging social platforms
- Strong analytical chops - experience with Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, lookups) and hands-on exposure to incrementality, lift testing, and attribution frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-million dollar budgets with efficiency and strategic rigor
- Confident communicator with experience presenting to senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners
- Comfort in a fast-paced, high-stakes growth org - with a bias for action, experimentation, and results
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Senior Marketing Manager to lead and scale Thumbtack’s Paid Social program
- This role will manage two direct reports and serve as the go-to expert across social growth channels - including Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, and influencer marketing
- You’ll drive both national and local campaigns, marrying sharp execution with cross-functional leadership and a strong understanding of how social fits within our broader growth engine
- Own and scale Thumbtack’s paid social strategy across platforms like Meta, TikTok, and Pinterest - driving incremental customer growth, while balancing positive contribution
- Own the tracking, attribution, and incrementality measurement strategy for paid social, partnering with internal and third-party tools to ensure confidence in results
- Lead, mentor, and develop two direct reports, providing strategic direction and hands-on coaching to uplevel the team’s execution and impact
- Translate customer insights and performance signals into an experimentation roadmap—driving a continuous test-and-learn culture across audiences, creative, and platforms
- Oversee all aspects of campaign management—including budget pacing, bid optimization, creative iteration, audience segmentation, and platform best practices
- Audit and evolve the paid social tech stack, unlocking automation, signal improvements, and campaign efficiency - especially within Meta and TikTok
- Partner closely with analytics, product, and marketing tech teams to build automated tools for audience workflows, creative decisioning, campaign builds, and reporting
- Collaborate with Brand and Creative teams to develop and iterate thumb-stopping, performance-driven creative that also advances Thumbtack’s brand narrative
- Manage external agency and platform relationships - pushing for innovation, unlocking new opportunities, and ensuring Thumbtack remains on the leading edge of social marketing
- Drive executive-level reporting and translate channel performance into business impact

Instead of simply searching for a professional, users provide ThumbTack with details of the job they need completing and the professionals then pitch their services to the potential customer using credits. ThumbTack makes its money by charging the professional for these credits.
It positions itself as something a little different in a saturated local services space that is dominated by companies like Angie’s List, TaskRabbit, Yelp, eBay, and Amazon. It also focuses on a broad range of professionals, from traditional home services like electricians and painters to photographers, personal trainers, and birthday party magicians.
The COVID-19 pandemic saw a boost in business for ThumbTack as more people stayed at home and made changes to their properties, increasing the demand for home professionals. In fact, after 2019, the company doubled in value to $3.2 billion with its 2021 raise. Now its updated app has 30 new features, and the company is partnering with the likes of trade-powering platform and Unicorn ServiceTitan, indicating Thumbtack's sustained sway in the market.
