Who you are
- Strong emphasis on backend and cloud infrastructure
- Expert proficiency in TypeScript/NodeJS and React, including deep familiarity with modern development practices
- Proven track record building distributed, highly available, scalable systems in cloud environments, particularly using AWS
- Extensive experience developing robust Consumer facing and internal high performance APIs and distributed system architectures
- Hands-on experience with AWS serverless frameworks
- Exceptional communication skills, able to effectively articulate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, including business stakeholders, designers, support teams, and fellow engineers
- Strong capabilities in data modeling, one table design, and diverse data management principles, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and reliability of data-driven systems
- Experience working with and driving forward the usage of AI developer tooling in an ever shifting landscape
What the job involves
- We are looking for an exceptional Senior Software Engineer II to join the Purchase Experience (PEX) team, a core pillar driving our company's growth and customer satisfaction
- This role offers a unique opportunity to build impactful software used by some of the largest ECommerce and Brick and Mortar merchants in the industry, processing millions of API requests daily, directly influencing how our merchants and customers interact with our services
- You’ll partner closely with cross-functional teams in product, merchant integrations, design, operations, and the broader engineering organization - contributing significantly to a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence
- Architect and develop highly scalable, event-driven applications and APIs using AWS Serverless technologies
- Collaborate seamlessly with product managers, designers, and integration specialists to deliver robust, user-focused enhancements aligned with our agile continuous delivery practices
- Play a critical role in influencing the overall platform architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability while identifying opportunities to improve our offerings
- Provide technical mentorship, coaching, and guidance to team engineers, elevating our capabilities and fostering technical growth
- Develop and manage sophisticated data management solutions and back-end services essential to our mission-critical operations
Our take
Extend allows online and offline merchants to offer product warranties and protection plans at the point of sale. It aims to provide a comprehensive and centralised warranty system where before there was not one. Extend also provides customers themselves with a fast support experience, where 95% of claims are resolved in just 90 seconds.
Its API based platform is integrated into the likes of Shopify, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and BigCommerce, and can also be integrated into private client-owned e-commerce platforms. This ease of use is what makes Extend so appealing for clients.
The company has seen good funding that has fuelled business growth and geographical expansion. It’s interesting to note that PayPal Ventures and SoftBank are two of their main backers, as this indicates that payment giants see the value of these point of sale transactions. In 2022, Extend was named a certified partner of Shopify and reached an important milestone in becoming a full-service company, taking it one step closer to its vision of becoming the "AppleCare for everything".
