Who you are
- Senior marketeer who has proven experience of consumer-facing roles, ideally in the telecoms or utilities space
- Telecoms sector knowledge is desirable but not essential – if not, the right candidate will have a significant grasp of the market in which we operate and its challenges
- Combining a creative and a commercial mindset will be key to the success of this role
- Proven ability to understand the importance of brand building and digital media to continued corporate growth
- Experienced in data and the use of analytics tools and digital platforms, as well as managing and nurturing creatives to the point of delivery
- The ability to help to provide counsel and direction to senior executives is highly desirable
- A marketeer who is comfortable juggling different stakeholders at the same time as managing agency partners to deliver the best outcome at the right price
- A pragmatic team-player who isn’t afraid to challenge colleagues

What the job involves
- A new role to lead our reshaped brand & digital marketing team, focused on delivering the next stage of our brand and digital presence, and playing a key role in changing the way we show up in market
- Reporting to the Director of Corporate Affairs & Marketing, the role-holder will have a unique chance to help to drive the ongoing repositioning of the business as we continue our transformation journey
- Lead a unified brand and digital marketing team to help drive our market position and commercial goals
- Responsibility for our brand, creative, digital media and social channels, and the team who cultivate and grow them, as well as for guardianship of the TalkTalk brand
- Working with the Director of Corporate Affairs & Marketing, help to define a new digitally focused marketing and content strategy focused on increasing speed to market, responsiveness, and in-house creativity
- Develop and deliver stand-out campaigns linked to that strategy, strongly aligning to commercial objectives
- Protect and promote our tone of voice across all channels, including with our extended workforce, to ensure alignment and consistency
- Day-to-day management of our marketing agency, focused on ensuring they deliver the right creative/execution within budget
- Drive performance marketing with a strong focus on ROI
- Harness data-led insights to inform future decisions and direction
- Responsible, with the Head of Communications & Shareholder Engagement, for managing PR strategy and ensuring its fit to our overall marketing strategy, with a particular focus on the power of our own content to drive SEO
- Work closely with cross-functional squads to provide appropriate brand and digital marketing awareness and expertise as appropriate, particularly alongside our Commercial and Product teams
Our take
TalkTalk is a connectivity provider serving 4 million customers. Originally founded as a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse, it was demerged as a standalone company in 2010. TalkTalk boasts a number of firsts in the industry; including launching free calls between its customers, providing a whole-home filtering service, and bringing WiFi 6 router technology to the UK.
In hopes of optimising the experience of its broadband customers, TalkTalk has partnered with DZS, which is a leader in access and optical edge infrastructure and cloud software solutions. TalkTalk will leverage the market-leading technologies of DZS, including DZS CloudCheck and Expresse Cloud EDGE, towards reducing call escalations, minimising equipment replacements and shortening call handling times.
In 2022, TalkTalk acquired rival SSE from Ovo Energy, in order to bolster its customer portfolio. Rumours of its own acquisition by Virgin Media O2 followed that same year, though the deal did not come to fruition. The company also agreed a partnership with Telecom Acquisitions, the manager of a number of broadband ISP brands and products, which includes TalkTalk securing the controlling stake in the company.
