What the job involves

As a leader in this domain, you'll collaborate closely with partner teams to strategize on overarching business goals
Your team will be at the forefront of developing and implementing advanced optimization algorithms and machine learning models, driving significant enhancements to our advertising systems
With a commitment to analytical rigor, your team will evaluate ideas, dissect problems, build workflows, provide recommendations, and lead end-to-end analytics initiatives in this transformative space
Hire, inspire, and grow high-performing data scientists and analysts
Lead strong partnerships with stakeholders from across the business - from product management, engineering, consumer insights, content, and strategy
Instill an inclusive culture that is innovative and collaborative, both within your team and in the broader organization
Develop a team charter and roadmap that optimizes the impact of the team and reflects evolving business needs
Act as an ambassador between the Product, Engineering, Strategy, and DSE teams by having a deep knowledge of how the Netflix Ads product works
Ensure that your team is producing consistently trustworthy and high-quality technical outputs that influence the business

Our take

Netflix was started when one of the co-founders had received a $40 late fee after failing to return a film on time. Now, Netflix is one of the fastest growing technology companies, reinventing the entertainment space by providing high quality content for low fees.

This is becoming an increasingly competitive space, with deep-pocketed rivals including Amazon, Disney, Apple and AT&T. They are all spending big on content and pricing cheaply in a battle to win subscribers.

After a dwindling number of subscribers due to tough competition in 2022, Netflix is focused and committed to improving its core service which is its TV, movies and now games going forward. Post-IPO funding of $183 million from Winslow Capital at the end of 2023 followed the previous year's dumping of shares by the same company after Netflix's first loss of subscribers. This capital indicates a shifting perspective on Netflix's outlook, which saw a year-end subscriber boost.
