Our take

Empatica is an MIT Media Lab spinoff that designs medical grade wearables for collecting and interpreting physiological data. Among the many companies looking to capitalize on tech developments to create fine-tuned personal health monitoring wearables, Empatica stands out both for its quality of product and remarkable applications.

The Embrace wrist device was the first to be FDA cleared as a seizure alert solution for adults and children aged 6 and up, and Empatica has partnered with NASA’s Translational Research Institute, the US government’s BARDA DRIVe initiative, and the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command, along with private organizations looking to improve health outcomes for employees and recovering addicts.

It’s continuing to develop new products with outstanding applications in other fields, too, making substantial progress in the field of remote patient monitoring and early detection of infectious transmissions. With the company’s rapid growth, partnered with demonstrable success in the growing market of remote care, Empatica looks set to carve out an impressive position going forwards.
