Who you are
- We are looking for a talented, self-motivated team player who has the drive to take initiative and deliver results
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA or equivalent is a plus
- Strong understanding of US GAAP
- Willingness to take on additional projects and responsibilities as needed
- Build positive relationships with key stakeholders and contribute to a positive team environment
- Ability to work independently to identify problems early and explore possible solutions
- 2+ years experience in inventory accounting
- 1-2 years of startup accounting experience a plus
- Experience in the book industry is a plus but not required
What the job involves
- The Accounting Manager will oversee the daily functions of general ledger operations and order to cash. They will ensure compliance with GAAP, enhance accounting procedures, and assist in financial planning and analysis. This is a dynamic position
- This position reports directly to the Director of Accounting
- Own and scale the inventory cycle. Partner with our Supply Chain and Revenue operations teams to issue purchase orders, track customer sales orders and fulfillment, and accurately report on month-end inventory balances and contribution margin
- Own and maintain complex account reconciliations for inventory allowances and deferred revenue. Prepare revenue and COGS journal entries for multiple revenue streams (digital, print and services)
- Manage partner royalty calculations and reconciliations
- Oversee Accounts Receivable. Report on DSO and partner with Customer Success on problem accounts
- Manage monthly close procedures and variance analysis discussion
- Review and approve month end journal entries prepared by the Staff Accountant
- Support audit readiness procedures for ASC 350-40 and ASC 718
- Support ad hoc Netsuite projects
- Assist the Director of Accounting with the scale of accounting processes through system implementation, automation, and process improvements
Our take
Digital education has become an increasing reality in recent years. Whilst services such as Zoom have provided platforms for remote teaching, the minimal functionality of such services has outlined the lack of digital engagement tools that classrooms require.
Kiddom develops a collaborative learning platform for K-12 schooling, with integrated solutions for remote teaching, in-person school and homework assignments. The platform allows teachers to assign tasks and to collaborate with students on them, whilst the software gathers data to provide insights on student engagement and performance.
The startup currently provides its services to individual teachers for free, but solutions for inter-institutional curriculums come at an annual subscription fee. Kiddom’s approach aims to fill the gap between remote and in-school teaching, at the same time as integrating student analytics to optimize and personalize the way students are educated.
