Role
Who you are
- 5-8 years of experience in PR, ideally with a mix of experience in consumer and tech
- You have 2+ years of experience working with celebrities, influencers, agencies, and management teams. You are a skilled, savvy, and extremely professional communicator and point of contact for this critical audience
- You are a creative thinker and problem solver
- Deep understanding of strategic PR initiatives and media relations and how those can propel a brand forward
- You have extraordinary written communication skills and have the ability to write and edit executive emails, press releases and internal memos with impeccable grammar while keeping your audience entertained and engaged
- You have a natural curiosity and understanding of the pop culture landscape. While you don’t have time to consume every piece of media, you understand trending celebrities, TV shows, movies, and music
- You have experience and knowledge of the ever-evolving influencer ecosystem and have a proven track record of building and maintaining excellent relationships
- You are metrics savvy and can connect PR and VIP initiatives to brand measurement, assessing every opportunity with a high level of judgment for how it grows and strengthens the Babylist brand, both quantitatively and qualitatively
- You understand social media (experience is a plus)
What the job involves
- This will be an integral role of the Brand Marketing, reporting to the Director of PR and Social, and will focus on supporting both our PR initiatives and VIP relationships in and around Babylist Beverly Hills
- This person will work closely with our PR agency and support our overall press narrative across our key audiences of consumer, tech and industry media
- This person must be based in the Greater Los Angeles area and can travel to Babylist Beverly Hills ~2 days/week to be the Babylist brand liaison and host influencers, celebrities, and media (exact frequency will vary week by week)
- You will be a key member of the PR team, working directly with the Director of PR and Social and our PR agency for all PR initiatives. Your scope will include project management, writing and editing press releases, awards submissions, and internal updates, and crafting interviews and prep docs for press opportunities
- You will partner with our data team to utilize data to support and shape stories about trends and craft a story that supports Babylist’s strategic goals
- Measure the impact of PR initiatives on a monthly and quarterly basis, providing written updates to executives
- You will help manage our influencer agency on the ground in LA, building key relationships with them and ensuring they are working towards our goals
- You will be the face of the Babylist brand for a key audience of celebrities, influencers and management teams, responsible for building and nurturing relationships both virtually and in-person
- You will be the point person for Babylist Beverly Hills visits and events, ensuring that all parties are clear on goals and ensuring all deliverables are met. You will have high energy and warm in-person communication so that all parties are left feeling positive about Babylist
- Partner with our Sales team to negotiate and integrate Brand Partners into opportunities with VIP, building new revenue streams for Babylist
- Support timely reactive communications and crisis communications initiatives
Our take
Since its 2011 launch, Babylist has grown into one of the most highly rated baby registries in the US. The difference it offers is that it allows users to include products from any store in their registries. On top of this, the company’s model also focuses heavily on creating informational content, which allows it to generate ad revenue while building customer loyalty.
Originally scaled with fairly low venture funding, Babylist claims half of new parents in the US now use its services. This, given that the baby products industry is worth close to $90 billion, shows the immense growth of the company as well as speaking to the impact it has made in the space.
Babylist has seen strong funding in the past which fuelled projects such as the launch of virtual showrooms, and facilitated the company's expansion further into the market. The company acquired Expectful, a health and wellness tool, in 2023 with the long-term vision to combine the companies into a larger health and wellness media property, that can help people navigate all parts of parenthood from fertility to diapers.
