Role
Who you are
- Enrolled in an accredited US-based university (working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or Spring 2027
- Must be returning to school for at least one quarter or semester after the internship
- Have no more than 12 months of professional full-time work experience (excluding internships and research assistant roles)
- Must be willing to relocate to San Francisco Bay Area and be available to work in the San Francisco HQ office
- Some experience building software in a non-academic setting (internship, research roles, relevant projects, etc.)
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and how to apply them in a coding environment
- Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and systems architecture
- Ability to quickly learn new languages and adopt new technologies, methods and processes in a fast-paced work environment
- Intellectual curiosity and an affinity for solving problems
What the job involves
- Our team architects, builds, and evolves the mission-critical web applications that power our core business verticals, including Customer Support, Fraud & Dispute handling, and back-office operations
- We are the engineering backbone for the platforms that ensure our business runs smoothly and securely, and we are on a journey to modernize our technology stack for the future
- The software dev intern in our team will partner closely with one of our stakeholders and solve a specific problem end to end, while ensuring the solution aligns with the team's software engineering best practices
- The candidate must be available for the entire internship period
- Cohort 1: Monday, June 1st, 2026 to Friday, August 21st, 2026
- Cohort 2: Monday, June 15th, 2026 to Friday, September 4th, 2026
- Write, test, and deploy efficient, scalable code to production that impacts millions of SoFi members
- Design, develop, code, and test software systems, improvements, products, and user-facing experiences
- Work with multiple languages and frameworks including: Python/AWS/PostgreSQL/React/NextJS
- Directly contribute to standard methodologies, architecture, and implementation
- Translate user stories into technical solutions
- Participate in design and code reviews
- Work alongside software architects and senior developers doing state-of-the-art development work (mobile, front-end, back-end, DevOps)
- Learn about new technologies, tools, and processes that will build your skill set and help shape your career
- Present your summer project and work to SoFi’s senior leadership team

The global neobanking market is still growing at a staggering rate, valued at more than $50 billion and forecast to grow 50% annually for the foreseeable future. While companies like Revolut, Monzo, and Wise have been at the forefront of this digital revolution, Galileo has been a major background player.
In essence, the 2001-founded company provides some of the world’s leading fintechs (including the aforementioned Monzo and Wise), with the software and infrastructure they need to issue cards, process payments, and build innovative digital banking products.
The Fintech industry as a whole sat up and took notice when SoFi acquired Galileo for $1.2 billion in 2020, a year before going public. However, it's worth noting that since then, Galileo has continued operating as an independent subsidiary.
New partnerships with the likes of Fundbox and Global Rewards indicate that business is still booming for Galileo, while the company also looks to be exploring new, potentially very lucrative avenues in the crypto industry.
