Who you are
- Strong experience with JavaScript and TypeScript, with the ability to build scalable web applications
- Proficient in backend development using Node.js
- Expertise in frontend development with React and React Native
- Solid knowledge of SQL for designing and maintaining efficient databases
- Balanced expertise between frontend and backend, with a slight preference for backend development
- You are a diversity champion
- Nice to have: experience with Google Cloud Platform, familiarity with Golang, and knowledge of MongoDB
What the job involves
- As our Senior Software Engineer within the Returning User Experience team, you'll have the flexibility to work remotely or from our modern office
- You'll play a pivotal role in developing key features for our flagship product, ensuring high performance, scalability, and adherence to best practices
- Collaborating with product management, design, and other engineering teams, you'll help shape the technical direction of the product, mentor junior team members, and contribute to maintaining a healthy codebase by resolving technical debt
- Develop and deliver key features for our flagship product, ensuring performance and scalability
- Redesign or optimize existing architecture to improve efficiency and responsiveness
- Actively mentor less senior engineers, providing feedback during code reviews
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring features align with business and customer requirements
- Lead initiatives to uphold high-quality code standards, including code reviews and testing practices
- Identify and resolve technical debt to maintain a sustainable and clean codebase

For many people, filing taxes is still a painstaking, confusing and outdated process. In Germany alone, around 10 million people each year decide not to claim their tax refund for this reason. Taxfix solves this problem by making it easier to file tax returns and claim rebates.
Taxfix serves as a personal tax accountant, something that many of its users don't have access to. The app functions much like any chatbot, offering in-depth guidance and optimising the tax filing process. Users can typically file their taxes in under 20 minutes using the app, which will appeal to anyone looking to save time and effort on their personal finances.
Taxfix is not alone in offering this service, but it sets itself apart from rivals thanks to its mobile-first approach. The company has been well-served by its innovative and attractive app interface and acquired its German competitor Steuerbot in 2023. A year later it entered the UK market by acquiring smaller competitor Taxscouts, establishing itself as the European leader in its sector.
