Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a data engineering role, ideally in a SaaS environment
- Expert in SQL, dbt and Python
- Advanced knowledge of data engineering tools, frameworks and languages (eg. Airflow, Airbyte, Kafka, github workflows)
- Experience working with services in cloud environment (eg. AWS or GCP)
- Care deeply about data quality, integrity and security
- Thrive in ambiguity and can create paved roads from dirt paths
- Bonus points if you have experience with product event/attribute tracking design and implementation
- High intellectual curiosity and a proclivity to lean into a new subject matter
- A trusted advisor and partner for all levels of the organization
- Intrinsically motivated: you set the highest possible bar for what you build and ship
- An eye for spotting an opportunity, intuition for determining which ones to prioritize, and courage to follow through

What the job involves
- We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our small but mighty Data team. This role presents an extremely rare and unique opportunity to influence the architecture and tools that power our data analytics and reporting capabilities.
- You’ll be at the intersection of engineering, product and data, leading the integration of our product, financial, and business systems.
- Data Workflows: Own, build, and maintain data pipelines, ETL/reverse-ETL processes and BigQuery environment
- Data Quality: Implement an orchestration tool. Design a suite of tests and validations to ensure data consistency, accuracy and integrity
- Data Modeling: Develop reliable and lasting data models, while optimizing for scale
- Documentation: Catalog and document all aspects of our data pipelines. Create the foundation for a data governance program
- Collaboration: Partner with product and engineering teams to deliver data solutions that align with downstream use cases
- Data Leadership: Establish data engineering best practices and serve as a subject matter expert on our data architecture, models and systems

AI-assisted writing tools have taken off over recent years. With the likes of high-exposure company Grammarly accelerating adoption of such tools, a flurry of startups have appeared to offer their own takes. Writer’s angle is to leverage AI as a means of standardizing and scaling both content and communications for business teams. The tool offers autofilling and inline suggestions that keep content aligned with pre-determined company language and style guides.
This branded fine-tuning function distinguishes it from full copy-generation competitors, as well as from Grammarly itself, which is a more generalist copyediting tool. It subsequently caters to major enterprise clients looking to maintain standards across multiple and sprawling teams, and the company has managed to net major clients like Deloitte, Twitter, UiPath, and Accenture.
While AI-related buzz remains solidly around generative AIs like ChatGPT and Bard, Writer's narrow target market - in which it has already found success - supplies plenty of scope to grow, as AI copyediting tools look set to rapidly become content industry standard. With continued new launches and updates to its offerings as well as an impressive $100 million Series B awarded in 2023, the company is well-placed to seek further success into the future.
