Who you are
- You are skilled at understanding complex problems across integrated systems and will bring a mix of leadership, curiosity, process, and advocacy for your end users and design craft
- 7+ years experience designing and shipping end-to-end products across different use cases, complicated flows, and edge cases
- Experience contributing to and scaling a design system
- Ability to think at both a high level about product strategy and vision AND the design details
- Experience understanding and designing for the day-to-day execution of complex tasks by knowledge workers, such as design for (but not limited to): Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Insurance claims processing, and Corporate banking or Investment portfolio management
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders, product and engineering peers
- Ability to provide design variations and the rationale behind decisions made to support your design choices
- Experience working on maturing software platforms at companies with many teams or squads collaborating and across multiple stakeholders
- Experience and passion for understanding your user’s needs through qualitative research methods and testing
- Strong communication and storytelling skills. You see the value in discussing design in group settings and participating in design critiques and reviews with other designers
- A desire to learn, grow and be mentored by more senior designers on the team
- A pattern of curiosity and skill-building over time (growth mindset)
What the job involves
- Our Design team is hiring a Senior Product Designer to drive design strategy and detailed design execution across internal products that enable our physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and patient advocates to provide safe, high quality care to patients
- You are a designer who can design for our internal Electronic Medical Record (EMR) focusing on creating exceptional experiences for our healthcare providers
- You’ll be an integral part of the end-to-end product development cycle and will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Data, Medical, and Legal
- You are a product designer who can contribute to our platform design system and governance process to ensure we intentionally, methodically and systematically evolve and improve our UI components and design patterns
- Co-develop and maintain the Ro Internal design system ensuring it reflects human centered design principles, best practices in UX, UI, interaction design and visual design
- Iterate and improve the design system over time, incorporating feedback from users, stakeholders and evolving UX best practices
- Own your design process end to end. Solve business problems, through design, at the heart of a complex healthcare delivery platform
- Set and raise the quality bar for design and influence through craft, collaboration and problem-solving
- Make data-driven decisions that translate business goals into product experiences, and distill complexity into simple and elegant experiences
- Inspire and influence cross-functional team members and senior leadership by presenting design variations, design rationale, and evidence-based decision-making
- Lead all phases and aspects of design from vision, strategy, research, ideation, UX architecture, flows, interactions, wireframing, testing, and polished visual design
- Create unified end-to-end healthcare professional and patient experiences

Ro is a healthcare startup that connects patients directly to physicians, nurses, and pharmacists. The founders of Ro established the company because they felt that health insurance wasn’t working as it should, as the pooled cost of expensive treatments means that the price of individual doctor visits is inflated.
Ro’s primary care platform powers a personalized, end-to-end healthcare experience from diagnosis, to delivery of medication, to ongoing care. Instead of having to travel to a doctor’s office, Ro customers can access a video conference with a physician on-demand, from the comfort of their own home.
In order to tap into the global medical market, which is worth over $4 trillion, Ro raised $150 million at a valuation of $7 billion in 2022. It has expanded to more health areas, such as skincare and mental health, and launched an online pharmacy. Despite this, a substantial number of layoffs in spring 2022 indicated that Ro's accelerated growth had caused problems with its internal organization. Having now narrowed its focus and spending more on less, Ro has streamlined its operations and looks to continue on a steady upward trajectory.
