Role
Who you are
- If you’re excited about scaling critical systems, crafting seamless checkout and monetization flows, and empowering creators to grow their businesses globally, this role is for you

- Proficiency in English (spoken, written, and reading) at CEFR Level C2 / ILR Level 5
- 5+ years of experience building and maintaining complex full-stack web applications
- Advanced proficiency in Ruby on Rails, MySQL/PostgreSQL, ReactJS, TypeScript, CSS/SCSS, and TailwindCSS
- Hands-on experience integrating and maintaining payments in production environments
- A strong understanding of checkout flows, subscription lifecycles, and monetization mechanics
- Product mindset: curiosity about the “why” and focus on user outcomes
- Comfort operating with autonomy in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
- Adaptability and willingness to shift focus as business needs evolve
- Experience working on a fully distributed team

- Experience with advanced Stripe features (Connected Accounts, Subscriptions, Invoicing, Subscription Schedules)
- Background working with community platforms, creator tools, or other user-first SaaS products
- Track record of building polished, pixel-perfect interfaces with attention to detail
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a seasoned full-stack engineer to join Circle’s Payments team and help us expand the monetization engine that powers thousands of community-based businesses
- You’ll work across both infrastructure and product surfaces — from integrating new payment providers and scaling checkout flows, to building high-converting paywalls, upsells, and subscription tools
- This is a hands-on role with broad scope. You’ll own features end-to-end: designing systems, writing code across the stack, integrating with payment gateways, and collaborating closely with product and design to ship polished, reliable, and impactful experiences
- Work autonomously across our Ruby on Rails backend and React front-end to deliver high-quality features quickly and safely
- Lead complex projects end-to-end, driving architectural and product decisions
- Build and evolve monetization features like paywalls, upsells, affiliate tools, and subscription settings
- Integrate and scale payment solutions (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, in-app payments) to support global audiences, multiple currencies, and diverse business models
- Optimize checkout and paywall experiences for reliability, conversion, and seamless UX
- Collaborate with leadership, product, and design from early exploration to launch
- Continuously improve performance, developer experience, and code quality
- Balance iteration speed with technical and UX excellence, shipping behind feature flags where needed
Our take
The influencer market is nearly twice the size it was globally back in 2019. With more creators flocking to the digital space to grow and engage with their followers, cracks in the existing platforms’ relationship to their content creators are showing. Circle is one of a number of content creator platforms rising up to meet the demand for change.
Its community platform allows users to create and engage with their own groups, for a small subscription fee established by the creators. This direct ownership and community engagement is proving something of a silver bullet for companies looking to tempt creators off of incumbent giants like TikTok and Youtube. Companies like Substack, Patreon, and Pico have all seen remarkable success with this strategy, suggesting that Circle’s foray into establishing something similar for a creator hub is playing to an eager market.
The company's ultimate aim is to pull together all creator tools like newsletter publishing, merch sales, and podcasting under a single Circle umbrella. This is ambitious - but Circle is growing alongside the creator economy at an impressive pace. If it can maintain this growth, it will be poised well for future success.
