Role
Who you are
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of professional development experience with a focus on TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- Backend: Familiarity with ORM tools as well as experience writing raw SQL
- Modern web development tools: Proficiency in linting libraries such as ESLint and testing libraries like Jest and Cypress
- Application state management: Expertise in complex application state management
- Cloud: Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and familiarity with static hosting approaches, platforms, and caveats
- Interviewing: Experience with structured interviewing, ideally in a scaleup or big-tech
- Work smart: You know how to make complex things simple, and can work fast and smart at the same time
What the job involves
- We’re looking for Principal Full Stack Engineers for our Community team who will act as technical experts working with a cross-functional team that includes product managers, developers, designers, and a founding team
- You’ll be handling the design and implementation of new high-impact product features, creating and developing an amazing product that you will be proud of
- Main frontend responsibilities include building components and ever-evolving UI systems using a modern web tech stack
- Backend responsibilities include working on our internal APIs, billing as well as 3rd party integrations, and improving the performance and reliability of our systems as we rapidly scale our product and organization
- The Community team is a brand-new product team that will help usher in the next wave of growth by scaling up our two-sided marketplace. The team will help designers evolve into creators and build thriving communities and income streams (e.g. revenue sharing) on the platform, all while driving immense business value
- You’ll help the engineering team solve problems and overcome challenges. You’ll partner closely with our Talent Acquisition team to hire great engineering talent and mentor engineers, ensuring we’re building a positive and inclusive working environment for everyone
- Produce high-quality results: You'll lead and contribute heavily to large cross-functional projects that have a significant impact on the business
- Establish good engineering practices: You'll drive technological excellence and shape the technical vision across the whole company
- Resolve production issues: Assist our skilled support team and operations team in triaging production issues
- Identify challenges: Proactively address both frontend, backend, and infrastructure challenges, driving technical decisions within the company
- Own features or systems: Define their long-term health, while also improving the health of surrounding systems
- Collaborate: Help product teams better understand engineering challenges and break down complex projects into manageable and easy-to-grasp tasks
- Core working hours are 12 pm to 5 pm CET, with the rest of your working time being flexible so you can work in a style that suits you best (early riser or a night owl)

Our take
In order to meet their branding and marketing needs, businesses can either hire graphic designers at a cost to their budget or rely upon free templates they can edit to their uses. However, whilst these templates have allowed many lower-budget businesses to create a digital image, it has also made it difficult for them to appear unique online. Kittl supplies a design platform for companies to create effective and individual graphics online, easily, and without the need for design expertise.
Kittl was founded in 2020 to combat the “cookie cutter” digital image landscape brought about by the rise in templates. Its platform allows clients to make detailed and unique logos without design training; with tools including text shading and text decoration, libraries of images and ornaments, and much more. On top of this, the company provides tutorials and inspiration for customers to make the most of what it provides.
Early Kittl clients include the likes of Warner Bros, Netflix, and German publisher Hubert Burda Media. The company has secured significant funding, the latest of which is cited to help grow its team and develop better tools for its users to unlock their creativity, as it further establishes itself and attracts new customers.
