Who you are

You have a deep understanding of modern iOS development, including extensive experience with Swift, UIKit and familiarity or curiosity with SwiftUI
You enjoy working collaboratively in mixed-discipline teams (iOS, Android, Web, Data, Design, Product)

You’re curious, proactive, and open to experimenting with new technologies
You’re interested in how AI can improve workflows and know when to use it to move faster

What the job involves

We are looking for a thoughtful, well-rounded Senior iOS engineer to join our team, and help build the tools artists on Spotify use to understand and grow their audience
You will play a leading role in our mobile engineering practice, implementing new features, improving performance, and building appealing user interfaces to bring data on artists’ performance on the Spotify client to life
Build and improve iOS features that make Spotify for Artists, an excellent tool for artists and their teams to gain insights about their audience and plan for the future
Work with a multi-disciplinary, full stack team of engineers, product managers, and designers to develop features from concept to release
Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to uphold quality standards
Collaborate on technical investigations and architecture improvements for the Spotify for Artists mobile app
Take ownership of tasks, from feature development to debugging and optimization

Spotify was founded in an attempt to combat the rampant music piracy that was causing significant harm to the industry. The company has since taken music streaming mainstream and now has 180m+ paying subscribers across the world.

With features that include a highly accessible interface and a vast catalogue of artists, Spotify's strong brand has been able to maintain growth in spite of fierce competition from deep-pocketed rivals like Amazon and Apple. The company has achieved this by making smart acquisitions to move into other verticals to strengthen its offerings, especially podcasting, by acquiring Gimlet Media, Anchor and Parcast.

Spotify's future plans include rapid growth with a goal to become a one-stop destination for all digital sound, as well as AI and NFT integrations. However, high costs incurred from the acquisition of exclusive podcasts, increasing competitor strength, and weak bottom-line growth mean that the company must find a balance to maintain its position in the sector.
