Who you are
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with cloud platforms
- Experience in insurance or regulated industries
- AWS certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner / AWS AI Practitioner
- Continuous Learning & Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies and best practices in a rapidly evolving environment
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking: Strong capability to diagnose complex issues and design effective solutions

What the job involves
- We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team building a cutting-edge agentic AI platform for conversational AI agents in the insurance retail space
- You will work with AWS Bedrock, serverless architectures, and modern DevOps practices to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable AI-powered solutions
- In a nutshell we are the market leading software house in our industry, creating the software, websites & apps for the Insurance & Finance sector across the UK
- Design and implement serverless AI agent solutions using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and Bedrock
- Build robust API integrations with validation, authentication, and error handling
- Work with Amazon Bedrock agents and foundation models
- Implement AI guardrails for content filtering, PII protection, and prompt injection prevention
- Optimise AI agent performance, cost, and response quality
- Implement monitoring and observability for AI workloads
- Use Infrastructure as Code for AWS resource management
- Maintain and enhance repositories using GitLab CI/CD
- Apply security best practices and manage vulnerabilities
- Design scalable architectures supporting multi-client deployments
- Participate in code reviews and maintain high code quality standards
- Technology Stack:
- Languages: Python, TypeScript, JavaScript
- Cloud: AWS (Lambda, Bedrock, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, DynamoDB)
- AI: Amazon Bedrock, Large Language Models (LLMs), Kiro (IDE/CLI)
- Infrastructure: Terraform/OpenTofu, GitLab CI/CD
- Monitoring: Dynatrace, CloudWatch
- Testing: pytest, Jest, Karate, Postman

- At this stage your application will be reviewed by the recruitment team and more importantly will be reviewed by the hiring managers themselves!
- Teams Interview
- At this stage you will be invited to attend a 1 hour interview over MS Teams - there will normally be two hiring managers at least attending
- You will be asked some competence based questions, plus go through your CV and give you an opportunity to ask any questions that you want to know about any live projects etc the squads are working on etc
- Exercise
- At this stage you could be invited to complete a coding exercise at home and send in the public GitHub link for review by the hiring managers
- Final Interview
- At this stage you could be invited to a more in depth final stage interview which could have a few people on the panel - don't worry though we don't bite!
- This stage will last 1hour & either be over MS Teams or you will be invited into our Campus
- Stage 6
- Formal Offer
- Congratulations - At this stage you could be made a formal offer!
- Stage 7
- Background Checks
- At this stage we will instruct a company called Zinc to perform background checks (Last 3 yrs working and living history plus a Credit Check will be performed)

CDL has grown organically without any capital investment, boasting a still growing employee headcount of over 600, and working with some of the UK’s most established insurance brands, which is a great reflection of the company’s standing.
It’s fair to say that although CDL may not be on a rapid growth trajectory like many younger, VC-funded startups in the insurtech space, it’s stable position would be enviable to most.
