- 8+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering and/or software development
- Experience with programming languages like Python, Spark & SQL
- Comfortable using BI tools like Tableau, Preset, and so on
- Experience managing large-scale data sets, handling Terabytes of data and billions of records (across structured and unstructured datasets)
- Experience with implementing compute and orchestration tools like Databricks, Airflow, Talend, and others
- Experience leveraging AWS services, including EMR Spark, Redshift, and S3 among others
What the job involves
- We are hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join our US Operations and play a crucial role in our mission to establish a world-class data engineering team within the Center for Data and Insights (CDI)
- You will be a necessary contributor, advancing our data engineering capabilities in the AWS and GCP ecosystems
- You will Implement data infrastructure, platforms, and solutions by ensuring the delivery of data load and jobs tailored to their needs
- You will collaborate with the data team by prioritizing a service-oriented approach and quick response times
- You will model adherence to high data quality standards, KPI certification methods, and engineering best practices
- You will approach reporting platforms and processes with innovative thinking, considering the evolving demands of the business
- You will master the different data tools, clouds (AWS, GCP) and data engineering practices in the CDI ecosystem
- You will improve reporting workflows and efficiency, harnessing the power of automation whenever practical
- You will enhance the performance, reliability, and scalability of storage and compute layers of the data lake
- You will report to the Director, Analytics Engineering

In recent decades, anime - encompassing Japanese, Korean, and Chinese animation 0 has transitioned from a niche interest to a formidable industry, boasting a global market worth approximately $30B. Despite this growth, distribution has historically posed challenges, with series and films often reaching overseas audiences through disparate channels, if at all. Crunchyroll emerged to address this issue by consolidating the largest collection of anime into a single streaming service.
Sony's acquisition of Crunchyroll in 2021 for $1.75B expanded the platform's reach, integrating Sony's extensive animation library into its offerings. this move also positioned Crunchyroll for heightened competition against streaming giant Netflix, known for its substantial investments in anime production and acquisition. Currently, Crunchyroll maintains an unrivaled library of anime content, boasting over 44,000 episodes that have attracted over 0M paying subscribers.
While Crunchyroll initially offered a free, ad-supported tier to its vast community, it appears poised to phase out this option, transitioning to a subscription-based model for all new series. Despite this shift, the platform has implemented a global reduction in fees to stimulate subscription uptake. The success of this strategy remains to be seen, but past experiences with companies like Hulu suggest that it may drive subscription growth and mitigate piracy
