Who you are
- An endlessly curious person who thrives on being in the middle of the action and is excited to be a part of a leading edge technology and product innovation company
- A finance professional with 3-5 years of strategic or corporate finance experience in technology, preferably experience with consumer goods or consumer technology, previous investment banking or consulting experience a plus

- An excellent financial modeler and deep analytical thinker, being able to craft a story from the data and take others on the journey
- A great communicator, with experience partnering across different functions and various levels in a company
- A Proficient Excel user who knows how to roll up their sleeves and can build detailed analyses and models from scratch and working SQL knowledge
- You enjoy the experimenting and trial and error that comes with a fast moving environment
What the job involves
- You own FP&A for Inkitt, reporting to the VP of Finance, responsible for supporting the company’s strategic decision making through performing financial analyses, P&L management, unit economics detail, and partnering with business owners to understand performance across the company and inform leadership
- Partner with Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams to support decision making, manage resource allocation, track performance and delivery, and highlight opportunities and risks
- Develop, maintain, and refine detailed driver-based financial models for revenue, gross margin, operating expenses and capex by developing a deep understanding of the business and incorporating changes into the models in partnership with business partners
- Support M&A activities, due diligence, fundraising, investor relations, and Board meetings and communication
- Support company wide strategic initiatives that will deliver the next phase of company growth and revenue acceleration
Our take
The current publishing industry makes it very difficult for breakout authors to achieve success. Furthermore, publications are often based off subjective opinions of those in the industry, and potential readers have no input in the matter, despite them being the force that will drive a book's success.
Inkitt takes a different approach to publishing in order to give writers a fairer chance of success. The company allows writers to submit their stories onto the website where readers have free access to read anything posted. Using an algorithm, Inkitt then determines which stories have the most reader engagement, and based on this information, decides which to take to official print and publication.
7 rounds of funding to the sum of more than $100 million have allowed Inkitt to invest more in its algorithm and technology and open offices in San Francisco. It's also looking to expand into more mediums such as video content and audiobooks, with a long-term aim of building a media empire akin to Disney. Though there's a long way to go for that lofty aim to come to fruition, Inkitt has already attracted 33 million users and published dozens of bestsellers.
