Our take

Ahrefs' services are built for marketing professionals to get their websites to rank higher and get more traffic. Trusted by teams at Facebook, eBay, Linkedin, Adobe, Uber, and so on, Ahrefs is an all-in-one SEO toolset and provider of free educational materials for marketing professionals.

The Singapore-based start-up updates its index with the freshest backlinks on the internet every 15 minutes, and its crawler process up to 8 billion pages a day, making it the fifth most active crawler on the web. In 2022, the company invested resources into designing and building its own search engine called Yep. In doing so, Ahrefs was enabled to run its own search index, rather than relying on APIs on Google or Bing.

The start-up’s CEO has long been a critic of Google and the way it handles its data, with the company launching its own book on the building blocks of SEO back in 2023. It continues to bolster its offering with new features, for example custom AI prompt tracking for brand visibility, which was launched in 2026.
